THE BEATLES - 'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'

1966 UK *MONO* PRESSING LP

This EXCELLENT UK mono pressing dates from 1966 and is on the 6th variation of the yellow & black Parlophone label: PMC 1230

Both labels bear a distinctive 'ridge' which was common to just a small number of copies pressed by EMI at this time.

Each label has the regular 'Sold in UK..' text & 'The Gramophone Co. Ltd..' worded rims.

A 'KT' purchase tax code is visible around the centre of the side 2 label.

Housed in front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed cover with a small mono indicator.

Complete with its plain white 'Patents Applied For' inner-sleeve.

Matrix numbers: XEX 421-1N & XEX 422-2N

Stamper codes: 1,5/RHO & 5/RD

Disc weight: 159g

Labels: 1. EXCELLENT   2. VERY GOOD +

The ridge is clearly visible on both labels and both centre holes are unworn with just a handful of light spindle trails surrounding them. As you can see, there are some age-related blemishes on both with slightly more on label 2.

Visual: EXCELLENT

Both playing surfaces are extremely clean & retain all of their deep-gloss shines with only some light marks consistent with inner-sleeve removal visible in strong daylight. Closer inspection directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp jut highlights these harmless marks and adds nothing more than a sparkling rainbow shine. Both sides of this heavy copy lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.

Play: EXCELLENT

This copy has recieved just a small amount of careful play on excellent equipment and each track is free from any groove/play wear distortion or background noise. In fact, apart form a few light clicks at the end of 'Misery', my careful play-check at volume found little else to fault on or between any track.

Cover

VERY GOOD +

A respectable example with some general light handling & storagewear but no major faults. The front panel is clean & bright with just a handful of 'thumbnail' wrinkles but no other significant signs of wear. There are minor bumps to the upper left & lower right corners as well as some light wear to each opening edge. The rear panel is has some slight discolouration but is free from any writing or missing paper. The edges of the flipbacks are a little dirty but all are fully intact and both seams and fully worded spine are all smooth, unstressed & completely unworn.

Inner-sleeve

VERY GOOD

Some general wear & age-toning but no writing, tears or seam splits.
