THE BEATLES - 'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'
1969 UK **MONO** PRESSING
MEGA-RARE **ONE EMI BOX** MONO LABEL
One of only 3 titles issued in Mono on the 'One EMI box' label in late 1969, this issue sold poorly and is now virtually impossible to locate. In fact, one sold on ebay on the 16 October this year for a record £743!
Both labels omit the 'Sold in UK...' text but have 'The Gramophone Co...' rim copy. There is no tax/price code visible in the centre of either label.
Housed in front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' cover with the large mono front cover logo.
Complete with its original red and white EMI advertising inner-sleeve.
Matrix numbers: XEX 421-1N & XEX 422-2N
Stamper numbers: 15/RLA & 6/RM
Clean, bright and glossy surfaces on both sides. There are some paper hairlines and a few light scratches visible under a halogen desk - with just a more noticeable single (0.75cm) scratch on side 2, half of which goes over the playing intro area and half over the track.
The disc lies 100% flat on the turntable with no signs or dishing or warping.
Cover The front panel is clean and glossy with some light wrinkles around the edges and a few 'thumbnails' near the opening and a bit of fraying at the bottom right edge - but no major wear. The rear panel is clean with two minor storagewear discolouration but no writing or missing paper.
All 'flipbacks' seams and spine are strong with some fraying around the circumference (see photo for a better idea). However, the cover is easily replaced, if required. It is the record that counts, in this instance. Conclusion All-in-all a real rarity, one that would be even rarer if it didn't have the damage to the label on side 2. Any questions, fire away.
