1963 UK 1st PRESSING RED LABEL 45
**EARLIEST POSSIBLE STOCK COPY**
This copy of the Beatles' 2nd UK single release bears '1/G, 1/G' mother/stampers, confirming it as one of the first 300-500 copies ever pressed.
This extremely early 1963 1st pressing is on the UK red & silver Parlophone label: 45-R4983
Both labels carry the 'Made In Gt. Britain' text and 'Dick James..' rims.
The 'MT' tax/price codes is just visible on the 'Ask Me 'Why' label.
'MPT' codes are stamped in each run-out.
Housed in its original coloured striped Parlophone company cover.
Matrix numbers: 7XCE 17217-1N & 7XCE 17218-1N
Stamper numbers: 1/G, 1/G
A clean & vibrant set bearing some spindle trails (mainly to the 'Ask Me Why' label), but no writing, stains, stickers or any other wear.
Visual: EXCELLENT
Both surfaces are extremely bright & clean and retain their original deep gloss shines with no dulling or groovewhitening to either side.
The only significant mark is a light scuff line on the 'A' side, but there are no other marks or any scratches visible in daylight.
Close & careful inspection directly under a halogen desk lamp reveals a few light paper/stylus hairlines but no further wear.
Both sides lie 100% flat on the turntable with no signs of dishing or warping.
Audio: EXCELLENT PLUS
A truly wonderful sounding disc with oustanding sound quality witha depth and clarity missing from any other copy or pressing.
Both sides play totally cleanly & clearly with no trace of groovewear or background noise/crackle.
All run-ins & all bands play without any intereference & there are no ticks, clicks, pops or any other faults anywhere.
This disc has been carefully audibly graded in its entirety on a Rega P9 deck fitted with a Shelter 901 cartridge.
