THE BEATLES - 'PLEASE, PLEASE, ME'
1963 UK '3rd' **STEREO** PRESSING LP
***EARLIEST 1/G STAMPER IN 'GOLD' COVER***
This extremely rare 1963 '3rd' STEREO pressing is on the UK black & yellow Parlophone label: PCS 3042
Both labels OMIT the 'Sold in UK..' & 'Recording First Published..' texts, but carry 'Parlophone Co Ltd...' rims.
The 'KT' tax/price code is visible on the side 1 label.
Housed in a 1st issue front laminated, tri-flipback 'E.J. Day' 'large' stereo logo cover.
This was the same cover issued with the gold & black labels discs featuring the 'Angus McBean' credit in the extreme lower right corner.
Complete with original 'Use Emitex' poly-lined inner-sleeve.
Matrix numbers: YEX 94-1 & YEX 95-1
Stamper numbers: 1/P & 1/G
Labels: EXCELLENT MINUS
Some light hole wear but no 'touch-up', marks writing or missing paper.
Visual: VERY GOOD
Extremely bright & glossy surfaces which are undulled by groove-whitening from overplay or incorrect storage.
A few light fingernail scuffs & occaisional light scratch are visible in daylight & no more than wispy sleeve removal hairlines directly under halogen light.
There is a 2cm 'feelable' circumferal scratch on 'Love Me Do', but no other major faults.
Very thick, sharp-edged vinyl which lies 100% flat on both sides with no dishing or warping.
Audio: VERY GOOD MINUS
Despite frequent play, all tracks play cleanly & clearly without crackle or groovewear distortion.
Aside from a single groove jump on 'Love Me Do', all tracks play without major faults.
An occaisional light tick can be heard between some tracks, but there are no other audible faults.
Cover: GOOD PLUS
This rare example has moderate, general wear - but is still in presentable condition.
The front panel is clean & unfaded with shelf wear along the lower edge & some minor edge creases.
The corners & opening edge have some rubbing and moderate wear with a small 1cm repaired tear to the rear opening edge.
The rear panel is clean with only some faint age-spots but no writing or missing paper.
Some damage to the lower flipback, but the others & the seams are intact. The spine wording is clean & undamaged.
Strict visual grading in daylight and directly under a halogen desk lamp.
All discs are carefully play graded in their entirety on a Rega P9 deck with an Ortofon Kontrapunkt 'A' cartridge.
