'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'
Pressed for just a matter of days directly after its black & gold counterpart, this is the extremely rare 1st version of the yellow & black Parlophone label. The labels retain the small '33 1/3' figure in the 9 o'clock position which was quickly removed as the new design had this indicator inserted above the yellow 'Parlophone' logo.
This early copy even carries the same 'mother/stamper' numbers that were used on gold labelled copies. In fact, side 2 bears a '1/G' mother/stamper which technically makes it one of the first 300-500 copies pressed.
Here then is a UK 1963 '3rd' *STEREO* PRESSING LP
On the very first version of the black & yellow Parlophone label : PCS 3042
Both labels OMIT the 'Recording First Published.. & 'Sold in UK..' label text.
As stated above, both labels retains the small '33 1/3' figure in the 9 o'clock position & have 'Parlophone Co..' rims.
A single letter 'M' tax/price code is visible on the side 1 label.
Housed in the rarer 'GOLD issue' front laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' large stereo logo cover with the 'Angus McBean' credit in the extreme lower right corner.
Complete with original 'Use Emitex' poly-lined inner.

Labels: EXCELLENT
Some minor hole-wear, but no other faults.
Visual: VERY GOOD
Both surfaces are clean and bright but do display a few surfaces marks and occaisional light scratch in daylight. Numerous wispy inner-sleeve removal hairlines are visible directly under halogen light and there is a circular mark in each run-out (just visible in each label picture). However, there are no deep or 'feelable' scratches anywhere. Both sides lie 100% flat on the turntable with no dishing or warping.
Play: EXCELLENT
Despite frequent play, the sound has an amazing presecence and clarity expected from such an early pressing. All tracks play cleanly and clearly with no traces of groovewear distortion or any background noise. In fact, apart form an occaisional light tick between some tracks, there is little to fault on this super-rare copy.
Cover:
VERY GOOD
This rare example has general handling & storagewear but no major faults. The front panel is bright and clean with just some light creasing towards the lower left corner but no other significant signs of wear. The lower corners have some shelfwear rubbing and the opening edge despite a line of dried tape glue on the rear and a tiny 'nick' mid-way down, has minimal wear. The rear panel is generally clean & white with just some minor storagewear but no writing or missing paper. There is a some minor damage to the lower flipback and upper right corner but all remain intact. There are a few tiny pieces of missing laminate to the seams but no stresses or splits. The spine is clean, fully worded and undamaged.
