THE BEATLES: ‘SINCERE GOOD WISHES FOR CHRISTMAS AND THE NEW YEAR’ – AN ORIGINAL 1963 FIRST ISSUE OFFICIAL UK BEATLES FAN CLUB 7" FLEXI DISC IN ITS ORIGINAL GATEFOLD SLEEVE - LYN 492

Summary:
'Sincere Good Wishes for Christmas and The New Year' was issued by the Official UK Beatles Fan Club in December 1963 and was the FIRST of all of the UK FAN CLUB Christmas Flexi Discs. It is also considered theRAREST, as only 25,000 were pressed and mailed out FREE to all existing members of the UK Beatles Fan Club during December 1963.
(Interestingly, the Beatles recorded their first Christmas Flexi on 17th October 1963, the very same day as they recorded their hit single ‘I Want to Hold Your Hand’ and ‘This Boy’)!
Detailed Description/Condition:
The Original First Issue 7" Flexi Disc is on the Custom, White Background with Blue Print Official Beatles Fan Club label, printed with the Fan Club logo and catalogue number LYN 492.).
As you will see from the detailed scans provided, the Custom ‘Beatles Fan Club’ record label is in EXCEPTIONAL mintcondition. It looks NEW and it is truly REMARKABLE that the label looks like it would have done when it was first printed back in 1963 – absolutely NO soiling, NO dulling to the white background and NO fading to the Blue print – WE REALLY CANNOT FAULT IT – Simply SENSATIONAL!
Official Stamped Matrix:
The official stamped matrix in the trail out groove reads LYN 492-1U.
The 7" Flexi Disc playing surface is VG+. There is some minor scuffing and some superficial scuffing that does not affect play. The disc plays well.
The Disc is protected in its VERY NICELY PRESERVED, ORIGINAL Yellow Gatefold Sleeve. This was the ONLY Flexi Disc Sleeve issued by The Beatles Fan Club to incorporate the Official 1963 Christmas Beatles Fan Club National Newsletter, which is printed within the Gatefold. The first paragraph of the Newsletter confirms that this EXCLUSIVE disc will NOT be made available elsewhere, confirming that only 25,000 were pressed
As you will see from the scans provided the ORIGINAL Gatefold sleeve is VG+ condition. No tearing and some minor corner wear. These sleeves are usually prone to a lot of wear and tear and the yellow color is prone to fading, however, this one has NOT faded and still maintains its VIVID DEEP YELLOW color. The sleeve is FLAT - there is NO tearing or unwanted handwriting. The two ORIGINAL metal staples are shown within the gatefold.
A FINE example of this RARE and COMPLETE 1963 FIRST UK FAN CLUB Flexi Disc. Hard to believe that it was issued almost 48 years ago! One can only speculate how many have actually survived in this PRESERVED condition – it can’t be many!

Mint (M) Perfect Condition, which basically means that it is as good as new, literally. The vinyl has to look new and sound as though it was never played, and the cover has to look untouched. Some argue that the only mint records are brand new unopened ones still in their original packing.
Near Mint (NM) Vinyl is near perfect. At most, a light scuff appears on the record, but it should play without any noise or skips. The record sleeve should also be near perfect with only minor signs of wear. There should be no" outline sleeve.)
Very Good+
(VG+) This is the grading category where the quality of the sound is affected -- there will be some surface noise -- and the vinyl will show wear, including surface scuffs and some light scratches. However, the record is still very listenable as there are no deep scratches that cause skips. On the cover, the corners may be slightly bent, but not broken. There may be wear to the seams but not tears or holes.
Very Good
(VG) Vinyl doesn't necessarily look good, but still plays well enough. Surface noise will probably be present, including pops and clicks. At higher volume levels, the music should overpower any pops and clicks present. There may be seam splitting, but not complete separation of the sleeve panels from each other. There will be noticeable ring wear on the cover, but the cover should for the most part still be in good condition.
Good (VG-) Vinyl is well played and looks it. However, the record should still play without skipping. It will have substantial surface noise, pops and clicks. Loss of various parts of the dynamic range will occur due to worn grooves. This grade depends a lot on the owner and the type of records he or she collects. A rock record may still sound ok at a high volume, but quieter styles of music will be practically unlistenable. The record cover may have many problems including seam splits, tears, and writing on it.
Fair/Poor (F/P)
Using the word fair for this quality of record is, in the opinion of JRS, too generous and not recommended since it may be misleading. Records described as fair (F) or Poor (P) in the Goldmine grading system are ones that are basically unlistenable. Surface noise, skips and pops make hearing what's on the record nearly impossible, if not completely impossible. The cover is falling apart, torn, and has writing all over it. The only reason to keep it would be if the record is extremely rare or you want to eventually melt the vinyl and shape it into an ashtray.

Correction:I made a mistake in my listing. I stated the condition twice in the listing. Disc is not mint. It is VG+. Label is very clean as pictured. It is a lovely example.
