This is a 7-inch 45 RPM Record of the Peace Talk with John Lennon “As Heard Exclusively on KYA Radio 1260 in San Francisco” which is printed on the labels.

This is a PROMOTIONAL RECORD produced by KYA Radio, San Francisco.

There is no catalog number and no record company printed on the labels.

The short interview on this record was produced and released in the San Francisco Bay Area by the radio station on a two-sided 45 RPM record.

This interview was recorded on May 29 or May 30, 1969 when John & Yoko were in Room 1742 of the Hotel Reine Elizabeth in Montreal during their second “Bed-In For Peace”, which lasted 11 days, due to the fact that the Nixon Administration and INS barred them from entering the U.S.

During this Bed-In, John completed composing his peace anthem “Give Peace A Chance”, while also making a series of interviews to promote peace. One of the interviews was with a pair of San Francisco disc jockeys, Tom Campbell and Bill Holley, and broadcast live on KYA Radio.

During the interview they touch on a broad variety of topics from Beatles music publishing to song lyric interpretations to Moog synthesizers.

Several questions from listeners show that many of them hadn’t realized that Lennon had matured from his “mop-top” Beatle-days to become a serious artist whose goal is “selling” (promoting) peace.

This is the ORIGINAL GENUINE ISSUE of this VERY RARE RECORD. We know this because:
> The vinyl is black with labels that are deep red in color with black printing
> Side 1 has “KYA Peace Talk - Side -1” and “76759” etched in the trail-off.
> Side 2 has “KYA Peace Talk – Side - 2” and “76759-X” etched in the trail-off.
> The logo “MR” in a circle is pressed in the trail off on both sides. (This used to be the identifying logo for Monarch Records.)
> All copies of this record on colored vinyl are bootlegs/counterfeits.

The VINYL is in VERY STRONG VG to WEAK VG+ CONDITION with lots of gloss and some very light surface hairlines/scuffs (none “feelable”).

I’ve seen record mailing envelopes from KYA Radio postmarked in July, 1969 containing this record, so I assume this record was only available by mail order. (NO mailing envelope is in this auction.)
