HISTORY
RELEASED IN GERMANY IN JANUARY 1962 THIS IS NOW CONSIDERED A SUPER-RARE RECORD AND ALSO HOLDS THE PRESTIGIOUS TITLE OF THE FIRST COMMERCIALLY RELEASED RECORD FEATURING THE BEATLES PERFORMING.  THIS COPY IS THE ORIGINAL DATING BACK TO 1962 AND ORIGINATING FROM GERMANY.

THIS SINGLE WAS THEREFORE PIVOTAL AT THE BEGINNING OF A LONG JOURNEY FOR THE BEATLES AND THEIR FANS AND IS CONSIDERED A 'MUST HAVE' WHEN DISCOVERED IN GREAT CONDITION AND WITH ITS ACCOMPANYING SLEEVE. 

THIS PARTICULAR COPY IS HIGHLY REGARDED AS IT HAS AN ENGLISH SLOW INTRODUCTION AND IS OFTEN REFERRED TO AS THE 'TWIST' COPY. 

THIS COPY HAS COME INTO IN MY POSSESSION IN 2010 AND HAS BEEN PLAYED ONLY ONCE.

THE SINGLE IS CREDITED TO TONY SHERIDAN AND THE BEAT BROTHERS.  TONY SHERIDAN WAS ALSO PERFORMING LIVE IN HAMBURG AT THAT TIME AND OFTEN WOULD PERFORM WITH THE BEATLES.  THE BEATLES ARE NOT CREDITED WITH THEIR TRUE NAME ON THIS RECORD DUE TO THEIR NAME BEING VERY SIMILAR IN GERMAN TO A RUDE WORD!

SLEEVE CONDITION
THE ORANGE POLYDOR SLEEVE THAT ACCOMPANIES THIS SINGLE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.
THERE IS ONE INCH LONG TEAR ON THE FRONT SIDE AT 10.30 FROM THE INNER CUT-OUT CIRCLE AND A WRITTEN ORIGINAL RETAIL PRICE.
THE TEXT AT THE BOTTOM ON THE REAR OF THE SLEEVE IS IN GERMAN.

LABELS
THE LABELS STILL RETAIN THEIR ORANGE GLOW FROM WHEN THEY WERE FIRST PRESSED DESPITE THERE BEING MODERATE WEAR.  THERE IS NOTHING TO REPORT IN TERMS OF DAMAGE TO THE LABELS OTHER THAN THE HANDWRITTEN NAME 'NICK' IN BIRO ON SIDE A.  THERE ARE NO SCUFFS, RIPS, FINGERPRINTS, SMUDGES TO REPORT.

VINYL
THE VINYL UNDER BRIGHT LIGHT AND HEAVY INSPECTION SHOWS LOTS LIGHT MARKS BUT NOTHING TOO SERIOUS.  THE 45 ITSELF PLAYS THROUGH WITH NO SKIPS OR CRACKLES AND THERE IS ONLY A SLIGHT AUDIBLE HISS AT THE BEGINNING.

SUMMARY
THIS ITEM RARELY APPEARS IN THIS CONDITION AND CONTINUES TO BE HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER, PARTICULARLY BY BEATLES FANS AND COLLECTORS WITH AN OVERALL INTEREST IN MUSIC HISTORY.  THE ITEM WOULD HAVE BEEN SOLD IN GERMANY IN 1962 AND BELONGED TO SOMEONE WHO WOULD NOT HAVE REALISED HOW PHENOMENAL THE RECORDING ARTISTS WERE ABOUT TO BECOME OR HOW PIVOTAL IN HISTORY THIS PARTICULAR ITEM WOULD BE.

IN SUMMARY THE SLEEVE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND HOLDS WITHIN A TRUE EXAMPLE OF A PIECE OF HISTORY THAT STILL STANDS THE TEST OF TIME.

Why is this 45 important? It's important because it is the very first commercial record released featuring The Beatles. This is it! This is the record that started it all. Incredibly undervalued and sure to sky rocket.The history is as follows: Tony Sheridan was billed as the leader of the group because it would be Tony who stayed on to record albums for Polydor if the first single sold. "My Bonnie"/"The Saints" (Polydor NH 24-673) was billed as "Tony Sheridan and the Beat Brothers." As Tony recalls it, Beat Brothers was used instead of Beatles because "Beatles" sounded a lot like the German slang word for penis, which was "peedles." (Remember John saying "Beatles peedles" on a Christmas record?). There where two versions of that first single, one (called the "rock" version) had the intro in German and the other (the "twist" version) had the slow intro in English. These were distinguished from one another both on the label and on the picture itself in the German Top Twenty, finally selling up to 180,000 copies in Germany. The single was held back until October, 1961 ("Rock"), and mid-January, 1962 ("Twist"). The copy up for sale here is the "Twist" version with the slow English intro.

Condition of the 45:
Record: The labels on the 45 are nice with moderate wear and someone wrote the word nick on the A side. The vinyl has lots of light marks  but nothing too serious. A few audible hiss is heard when played. Absolutely no skips. This is a welcomed addition to any Beatle collection, if not the most important 45 in any Beatle collection!
Sleeve: The sleeve is the German Polydor sleeve, it is in good condition with a one inch tear in the middle of it and numbers printed on the right top of the sleeve. The text on sleeve at the bottom is in German.

HOW WILL THE ITEMS BE SENT?
7" Records:  The items will be sealed in a plastic sleeve before being placed securely in a reinforced (cardboard backed) appropriately sized envelope.  The envelope will also be sealed with tape for security reasons.   All items will need to be signed for, this is my guarantee to ensure delivery, to keep strictly to ebay policy, and to maintain my own commitment to a professional service.
If deemed necessary the vinyl may be seperated and sealed seperately from the picture sleeve(s) during transit in order to guarantee condition.
Also if deemed necessary additional cardboard reinforcement may be considered.
An email will be sent advising of the Tracking Number in order that the item can be tracked via the Royal Mail website.
Discounts on the postage of multiple items is available although each item will be wrapped and secured seperately. 

HOW QUICK CAN THE ITEMS BE SENT? 
Next day delivery cannot be guaranteed - although this is the aim - but a quick turnaround is promised so that the item is delivered as soon as possible.  With regards to overseas, again items will need to be signed for, and the time taken will depend on how Royal Mail takes to deliver to any particular area of the world.  With regards to North America this is often 3/4 working days, and with regards to Japan can be up to 8 working days.
