- For sale is a genuine Yesterday and Today, ‘second state’ Butcher Cover album by The Beatles. It was released in June, 1966 on Capitol Records. This has the replacement trunk cover pasted over the original that shows the band in butcher smocks with chunks of raw meat and decapitated dolls strewn over them. There’s no doubt about the butcher slick being beneath the trunk as a portion of it is showing on the left near spine & at bottom seam! Some believe this adds value as there’s no question of whether or not it’s truly a paste-over. These covers typically discolored over time but this jacket is white & exceptionally clean - which is hard to find considering it’s nearly 60 yrs old. Back of jacket is nice as well with only minimal discoloring. Small #6 beside RIAA symbol on back indicates the LA, CA pressing plant. Both seams are strong & intact as is spine. [see pix] Lower left corner where trunk cover is partially torn off, shows wear. Other 3 corners are nice. Name in black at top left as shown. Record is a mono copy showing scuffs & lines has not been play tested. However the cover is the star here. Comes with Capitol inner slv.
As a bonus we’re including a copy of the recall letter and a beautiful, hi-rez reproduction of the original butcher cover. These would look great framed together.
This auction is being started at 19.66 - the year of release - so that everyone has a chance at owning this amazing Fab 4 collectible.
All items are carefully packed with records removed from jacket to prevent seam splits or ringwear.
