This was my copy for 25 years. Interestingly now upgraded with an EX+ in G&L sleeve with unbelievably identical matrix numbers!! Both came from families not dealer (ie not a mix and match, but as purchased) so would appear both sleeve variants were around at the same time
Condition
Record: conservatively graded strong VG to VG+ some light marks / scuffs and small sticker on side 2 label (possibly could remove, but I'm not risking it). Plays with a little light surface rumble in between tracks and will have the odd light tick here and there (emphasis on light) where is been played a number of times on a 1960's record deck, and I'm testing with a stereo cartridge so will always sound better with a correct mono cartridge. Have to be clear in case price goes high. Sound remains clear and bright. Scuff line in groove directions at beginning of good day sunshine is just that, a scuff, not a jump, and have play tested to be sure as had not play for many years (always play my -2/-2 as easy to replace) Tomorrow never knows plays nicely btw as tbf that is the reason this is so special. The rest is the same as a -2/-2
Its a very presentable example and was my personal copy. If the right copy, at the right price had not come along a few weeks ago, this would still be my personal copy, which I hope reassures.
Sleeve: As seen strict EX-/Near EX as seen EJ Day Variate as detailed above
I use record collector grading but also add a + and - where necessary since their grading standard can be too simplistic.
Mint (M): The record is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.; Please note I normally use Near Mint since unless sealed there will always be a minor imperfection!
Excellent (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
Very Good (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
Good (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
Fair (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
Poor (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
Bad (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
