This illustrated history chronicles the Beatles' business relationship with Vee-Jay, an African-American owned record label (1953-1966) that introduced the Fab Four to the States. Drawing on corporate documents, legal records, and other resources, author Bruce Spizer offers a slew of interesting facts about the Beatles' rough American start in 1963, detailing how they were originally rejected by Capitol Records and why their first U.S.-released single, "Please Please Me," flopped. Images include advertisements, record jackets, and posters.
