Description
The latest batch of Beatles reel-to-reel tapes I am putting up for auction are from a true collector.. someone who has looked after their collection. There are four altogether and you can check the rest out by clicking on my ‘items for sale’.
This one is an original 3 & 3/4 ips twin track mono reel-to-reel tape from 1966 (TA-PMC 7009) ‘Revolver’ - The Beatles’ seventh album. I have checked it on a reel-to-reel player and it plays as new. There are no snaps, repairs or stretches on the tape. The tape is on the original 4 inch EMITAPE reel, which is in excellent condition. The leader tape at both ends is clean, intact and full length.
The box lid has splits on two corners, and on one of the finger slots. Other than that, it shows only minor signs of age with no writing or sellotape marks. Similarly, there are no sellotape marks on the back of the box, and the only writing is a reference number on the top left, and the original cost of the tape on the top right; 35/- (that’s £1.75 in today’s money!). There are no tears or splits on the back of the box and it shows only very minor signs of age (see photo). The cardboard tray which holds the tape inside the box is clean and completely intact.
The tape still has the pink Emitape insert and there is even the original packing slip inside the box which tells the bearer 'In case of complaint this slip must be returned with the tape record' - I suspect however that may be out of warranty after 41 years! It's a nice addition though. This tape has clearly been well looked after.
