1966 UK *1st MONO* PRESSING* LP

This initial mono pressing, available for a few days only upon release in August 1966, contains an alternate version of the song 'Tomorrow Never Know' (otherwise known as 'remix 11'). This version features the sound effects dropped in different places in the track and also has a slightly longer fade-out with a piano not audible in the replaced 606-2 & 606-3 cuts. Despite 'Revolver being reissued in mono in the current 'Remasters' series, it does NOT have the 'remix 11' version of 'Tomorrow Never Knows' - it' can only and will ever be found here on this 1st vinyl pressing.

This copy of that same rare UK mono 1st-day pressing from 1966 is on the yellow & black Parlophone label: PMC 7009

Both labels include the 'Sold in UK..' text & 'Gramophone Co. Ltd..' rims.

Label 2 label bears the 'Dr. Robert' spelling & 'KT' purchase tax code.

Stamper codes: 1/GO & 3/GA

Disc weight: 158g

The disc is housed in a front-laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed mono cover.

Complete with a 'Use Emitex' rice-paper lined inner-sleeve.

Labels: EXCELLENT -

Both are clean but with no major blemishes on either,just  a number of spindle trails around each centre hole.

Visual: 1. VERY GOOD  2. VERY GOOD +

Both surfaces are very clean and retain all of their original deep-gloss shine. Side 1 bears several light surface marks in strong daylight which appear to be mostly fingernail scuffs are visible but nothing significant or feelable. Side 2 has very little in the way of surface marks or wear. Close examination directly beneath my unforgiving halogen desk lamp does little more than produces a sparkling rainbow shine and highlight the aforementioned marks. Both sides lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.

Play: EXCELLENT

Despite having been played a number of times, the sound quality on this copy is surprisingly EXCELLENT with no groove/playwear or any significant background noise which is a common fault with most examples. Not this one though, even the most delicate tracks such as 'Eleanor Rigby' & 'Here, There & Everywhere' play cleanly with no annoying background crackle or wear. Side 2 plays without fault and is topped off by the magnificent alternate 'Tomorrow Never Knows' which plays flawlessly.

Cover

VERY GOOD -

A respectable, if a little tired and age-worn example which has some all-round age toning to the white areas. There is a small tear to the front opening edge. The rear panel displays a little storage rubbing but is free from any writing or missing paper. All flipbacks are clean & fully intact and both the seams and the spine are all smooth unstressed & undamaged.

General age/storagewear but no writing or seam splits.
