1966 UK *1st MONO* PRESSING* LP

This initial mono pressing, available for a few days only upon release in August 1966, contains an alternate version of the song 'Tomorrow Never Know' (otherwise known as 'remix 11'). This version features the sound effects dropped in different places in the track and also has a slightly longer fade-out with a piano not audible in the replaced 606-2 & 606-3 cuts. Despite 'Revolver being reissued in mono in the current 'Remasters' series, it does NOT have the 'remix 11' version of 'Tomorrow Never Knows' - it can only and will ever be found here on this 1st vinyl pressing.

This copy of that same rare UK 1st MONO pressing from 1966 is on the yellow & black Parlophone label: PMC 7009

Both include the 'Sold in UK..' text & have 'The Gramophone Co. Ltd..' worded rims.

The side 2 label bears the 'Dr. Robert' spelling & a 'KT' code.

Housed in the rarer front-laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed mono cover.

Complete with its original plain white 'Patents Applied For' inner-sleeve.

The side 1 label is clean & bright, displaying only a collection of light spindle marks around its unworn centre hole. Side 2 has some partially erased ink marks in the yellow trademark logo, but no other major wear.

Visual: EXCELLENT

Both surfaces are clean glossy with just a few faint inner-sleeve removal marks and a single light stylus hairline on side 1 visible in strong daylight. Close inspection directly beneath my unforgiving halogen desk lamp reveals little more than a sparkling rainbow shine but no further visual blemishes or wear. several. Both sides lie of this well looked-after copy 100% flat on the turntable with no dishing or warping.

Play: 1. VERY GOOD 2. VERY GOOD +

This copy has received a number of careful plays but has no major deterioration to the sound quality throughout. Side 1 plays with some minimal light background noise, mostly audible only during the quieter moments. Side 2 plays better with no significant audible wear and there are no clicks, pops, ticks or any other such audible blemishes anywhere only this rare album.

Cover

VERY GOOD +

A very strong and unworn example where the only significant issue is some age-related blemishes on the paper, beneath the laminate. Taking that aside, it is clean, glossy and in very respectable shape with good corners and unworn opening edges. The rear panel is clean & black with just a faint bend on the upper left corner and a faint storagewear mark behind John's head. All flipbacks are fully intact and all seams are smooth & unstressed. There are a few splits to the spine laminate but all the wording is undamaged & is readable.

Inner-sleeve

EXCELLENT

Clean & white with just some minor storage creasing to the corners and the inevitable light disc impression.
