1966 UK *1st MONO* PRESSING LP

This initial mono pressing, available for a few days only upon release in August 1966, contains an alternate version of the song 'Tomorrow Never Know' (otherwise known as 'remix 11'). This version features the sound effects dropped in different places in the track and also has a slightly longer fade-out with a piano not audible in the replaced 606-2 & 606-3 cuts. Despite 'Revolver being reissued in mono in the current 'Remasters' series, it does NOT have the 'remix 11' version of 'Tomorrow Never Knows' - it' can only and will ever be found here on this 1st vinyl pressing.

This copy of that same rare UK mono 1st-day pressing from 1966 is on the yellow & black Parlophone label: PMC 7009

Both labels include the 'Sold in UK..' text & 'Gramophone Co. Ltd..' rims.

Label 2 label bears the 'Dr. Robert' spelling & 'KT' purchase tax code.

The disc is housed in a front-laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed mono cover.

Complete with its plain white 'Patents Applied For' inner-sleeve.

Labels: VERY GOOD

Both are clean but with many spindle trails around each centre hole. There is also a small scratch on label 1, but no writing or other sigificant wear.

Visual: VERY GOOD

Both surfaces are clean and retain all of their original deep-gloss shine. Several light surface marks, which appear to be mostly fingernail scuffs, are visible in strong daylight but there are no significant or feelable marks/scratches anywhere. Close examination directly beneath my unforgiving halogen desk lamp reveals some harmless wispy hairlines but certainly no major marks or blemishes. Both sides lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.

Play: VERY GOOD

This copy has been played many times but is without any major deterioration to the sound quality or indeed any major faults. My careful play-check found there to be some light background during the quieter passages and between tracks, but no clicks, pops or other such distraction from the music. The 'Tomorrow Never Knows' track plays VG+ and is after all, the main reason for owning this copy.

VERY GOOD +

A respectable example which retains a clean and unscratched high-gloss front laminate showing just a handful of small 'thumbnails' and few light spine bend but no other significant signs of wear. All corners are clean and sharp, free from any major bumps or bruising and the opening edges are undamaged & unworn. The rear panel is clean & black where it should be with just a trace of a disc impression behind John's head but certainly no writing or missing paper. All flipbacks are clean & fully intact and both the seams and the spine are all smooth unstressed & undamaged.

Inner-sleeve

VERY GOOD

Some general storage wrinkles and age-toning along with 'Revolver' written on one side. However, all seams are fully intact and unsplit.
