Description
Beatles Rubber Soul -1 / -4 LOUD cut UK 1st Press Mono 1965.
This super copy of Rubber Soul is a UK first pressing, the 'loud-cut', on the much sought after yellow and black Parlophone label.
The 'loud cut' first pressing is so called, as upon hearing the record, John Lennon asked for the pressing plates to be remastered as he felt it was too loud. Consequently, a very small amount ended up in circulation.
These early mixes only ever appeared in mono and are distinguished by the matrix numbers XEX 579-1 / XEX 580-1 in the deadwax.
Here we have a First pressing of the album in variation B. It’s with this style that we find later one-side "Loud Cut" presses. This transition press has the "Loud Cut" press on side 2 with the matrix number XEX 579-1 and the "Normal Cut" press on side 1 with the matrix number XEX 580-4.

The outer sleeve is in good condition especially for its age, with an air bubble in the laminate (see photo).
The inner sleeve is also in good condition for its age. There are few splits on the sides. The severity of these are depicted in the photos with the vinyl poking through.
There is a small blemish on side two as seen in the photos. This causes a tiny crackle every time the needle goes past the scratch in the first half of song 1 "what goes on" but this is incredibly minor. You can hear how minor this is in the recording of side 1 I have provided in the link below.
The rest of the vinyl is in exceptional condition with no skipping or clicking during tracks and only light pops and clicks between tracks.

All in all it's in superb condition considering the record is 58 years old and it would make an amazing addition to any collector.
