Description
You're bidding on a brand-new, still-sealed copy of artist Rutherford Chang's two-LP interpretation of the Beatles' classic self-titled 1968 masterpiece, known among fans as "The White Album."
Chang's version (released in a limited edition of 800 copies in 2013) electronically overlaid 100 discrete copies of the original Beatles album to create one densely layered, 96-minute double LP on which each version of the iconic original brings its own sonic history to the final recording. The physical imperfections of the 45 year old records pop, skip and crackle to create an eerie heterophony as the record gradually drifts out of sync with itself over the course of each side. The gatefold cover and disc labels are also composites of the weathered and graffitied originals. Additionally included is a 24 x 24 inch poster insert featuring images of the individual covers.
