READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

Beatles’ Second Album 1964 First-Day Pressing STEREO LP A1 Plates BOTH SIDES, EX!

Remarkably nice condition first-day issue of this album.  Both sides feature 1A plates, which is the very earliest-possible pressing that one can own.  These were in the record stores on the very first day of the album’s release, and as fast as they sold, the plates had surely changed quickly.

If you’re lucky enough to find one of these at all, they will almost assuredly be in VG condition at best, having been bought and played by overly-eager teenagers, who didn’t have the best hi-fi equipment to their avail. 

Not to mention that in 1964, stereo records cost a dollar more than mono copies did, an extra fortune in today’s dollars.

This one’s not NM, but boy, is it close.

Vinyl--- EX/EX.  Both sides shine 95% brand new, with just a few VERY light hairlines per side.

Plates--- A1/A1.  Definitely first-day issue.  Machine-stamped triangle with the letters, “IAM” inside it makes this copy pressed by Scranton.

Cover--- VG++.  Not quite Excellent.  Structurally solid cover.  Light to moderate yellowing on both front and back covers, not bad.  Top seam has moderate shelf wear in the center.  Back cover has the original price sticker still affixed.  Sticker has stained the cover underneath over the 6 decades.

NO SPLIT SEAMS.

Labels--- EX/NM.  Side 1 label has one very light, very short spindle mark that wasn’t there on the first day it came out of the factory.  Side 2 label looks 1964-brand new.

First-printed labels had the running time error for the track, “You Can’t Do That” as being 2:23.  Before the first pressing had run its course, the error was corrected to 2:33.  This copy has the error.  And of course, the Side 2 label has the very common error of the first two tracks missing their running times.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- EX.  As opposed to the west coast sleeves that were purple, the east coast sleeves were blue.  This one has bold graphics and light record outdent to one side only.  No finger divots or wrinkles, NO SPLIT SEAMS.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

RIAA--- 3

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
