THE BEATLES - 'SGT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND'
1969 UK Y&B PARLOPHONE *MONO* PRESSING
**ULTRA-RARE MONO & STEREO COVER**
This ultra-rare cover features a bright but flawed idea by the EMI production department, who in late 1969 decided to put both mono & stereo catalogue numbers on the cover. Taking the mono cover, 'PCS 7067 Stereo' was added in the vacant space next to the the mono number in the rear upper right corner. However the statement 'This is a mono recording' in the text lower down was left unchanged.
They were without doubt issued in late 1969 housing either late yellow & black labels or '1 EMI Box' mono pressings.
It is not known exactly how many of these covers were produced, perhaps just a few hundred, making it arguably the rarest UK Pepper pressing.
This extremely rare copy is a 1969 MONO pressing on the final version of the UK black & yellow label: PMC 7027
Both labels omit the 'Sold in UK..' text but carry 'Gramophone Co Ltd...' rims
There is no tax/price code visible on either label.
The cover is fully laminated with 'wide' internal 'flipbacks', bearing mono AND stereo catalogue numbers on the rear upper right corner.
Complete with original red & white EMI inner sleeve and cut-out sheet.
Matrix numbers: XEX 637-1 & XEX 638-1

This important & rare example retains an unscratched high-gloss laminate bearing just a few light spine wrinkles & a single 'thumbnail' crease.
The corners have minimal shelfwear but are 'unbumped' and display no significant faults.
All opening edges are clean & sharp, with no tears, feathering or missing paper.
The rear panel is as clean and glossy as the front, with just a few spine wrinkles but no 'thumbnails' or any other creasing.
The inside of the gatefold is in perfect shape with no marks or writing.
The spine is slightly yellowed but retains its full laminate, and all wording is intact, readable & undamaged.
All the seams are strong, unstressed and unsplit.

Carefully & rarely played, both surfaces retain their pristine high-gloss finish without any significant visible wear.
A few faint sleeve removal marks can but seen in strong daylight but no heavy surface scuffs or any scratches anywhere.
Close inspection directly under a halogen desk lamp reveals no more than a few wispy paper hairlines.
Quality, sharp-edged vinyl which lies 100% flat on both sides without dishing or warping.
Audio: EXCELLENT PLUS
Carefully played on good quality equipment, the sound quality throughout is warm & clear.
Careful listening on headphones reveals just a very faint hint of wear to 'She's Leaving Home', but no crackle or any other audible wear elsewhere.
Both 'run-ins' are 100% completely silent and there are no clicks, pops, jumps or repeats anywhere.
