THE BEATLES - 'SGT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND'
1969 UK *MONO* PRESSING IN RARE *STEREO/MONO HYBRID COVER*
In late 1969, with the the mono version of this LP about to be deleted, the stereo catalogue number was added to the right of the mono indicator in the rear upper right corner. However, the 'This is a mono recording' text was left unchanged in the rear lower right corner.
This 'experimental' version was very short-lived and only a few hundred example are believed to have been printed.
This rare variant dates from 1969 and is on final version of the black and yellow Parlophone label: PMC 7027
Both labels omit the 'Sold in UK..' text but have 'Gramophone Co. Ltd..' rims.
There is no tax/price code visible on either label.
This disc is housed in the abovementioned experimental fully laminated, wide (19mm) inner-flipback mono cover with mono AND stereo catalogue number in the rear upper right corner.
Complete with its original 'Patent number' inner-sleeve & unused cut-out insert.

Labels: VERY GOOD +
Numerous spindle marks to each centre hole but no other wear or damage.
Visual: VERY GOOD +
Both surfaces of this rare pressing are clean glossy and totally unmarked in strong daylight with no scuffs marks or scratches whatsoever. Close inspection directly beneath my halogen desk lamp reveals just some harmless wispy paper hairlines but no other visual wear or blemishes.
Play: VERY GOOD +
This copy has received some careful play on good quality equipment and my careful playcheck at volume found no significant deterioration to the sound quality or any major faults throughout. In fact, apart from some light/normal background on each run-in, there is ittle else to fault here.
Cover
GOOD +
Extremely difficult to find in any condition, this rare example retains its high-gloss front laminate front & rear with some 'thumbnails' and general storagewear marking. There is shelfwear to the lower corners and some light wear to the opening edges but no tears or major damage. The inside of the gatefold is clean & unmarked with no missing paper to the unlaminated edges of the inner-flipbacks. There is a little wear to the lower seam but no splits or stress to any. The spine is discoloured but all the text is present and readable.
