Description
The Beatles, Sgt Pepper's, mono vinyl album, a 1967 original LP.
Classic gatefold sleeve, flip back Garrard and Lofthouse varnished sleeve, with paper inner and original cardboard sheet of military badges etc. All in very good condition.
Matrix numbers are Side 1, XEX 637-1. Side 2, 638-1. Numbered PMC 7027 on reverse of sleeve.
There are signs of age to the sleeve: some light creasing and such like. You have to angle the sleeve in the light to really make them stand out. I've tried to show this in the photographs, front and back.
Vinyl is in good condition. It does show signs of age, but is fine on playback. It's not perfect, but then again it is 40 years old! There are no significant issues, it's perfectly enjoyable as it is. I love vinyl and I look after my records, but I don't expect it to be as noise-free as digital, if you see what I mean.
I played this record on my system (Linn turntable, Naim amp and speakers) this week, to listen critically to it. There are pops and clicks, but not constantly and overall it plays better than it looks. The vinyl would probably benefit from a thorough cleaning, but I don't have the equipment for that so I'm going to leave it as is.
All in all, an honest player's copy of this classic Beatles LP. They say you haven't heard Pepper until you've heard it in mono! Here is a genuine '60s original mono copy.
