Description
(This week, I will be selling some of my sealed Beatles albums. Good luck, and enjoy!)
Beatles Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band Still Sealed LP EARLY!
The Seal---The seal is a beautiful and tight 99% intact seal. The bottom right corner has a split about one inch, which barely reveals a white inner sleeve. Light ringwear.
RIAA---N/A
Cover---There are two breathe holes on the front cover. Has a small nick on the top seam. See photo. Also has a crack in the slick in the spine next to the NEMS disclaimer. Spine is not split because of it.
As with any sealed album, I would not by any means, guarantee which pressing is inside. The only way to do that is to open it, which you can do if you want, but I sure won’t.
If I were to venture a guess, I would say that this isn’t a first pressing, but it’s darned near. Certainly an early pressing. Any collector with multiple copies of this album should look at the front and back top seams. You can see in this copy that the slick shows a wide white strip at the tops of each side and a wide yellow strip at the top of the front cover. In the vast majority of cases, the white strip is much narrower than the yellow strip, indicating a pressing between 1970 and 1975. (The yellow strip was eliminated completely somewhere between 1975 and definitely by 1976.) Copies with the wide white strip tend to have been pressed between 1968 and 1969. That means that they are almost always either the black Capitol “Subsidiary of…” label, the Apple label with the “Subsidiary of…” text on the sliced Apple side, or the green Capitol label.
The NEMS disclaimer runs vertically up the spine from the bottom, indicating that this copy is probably not a first pressing.
If you plan to bid, please read this first…
For the second time in two weeks, I’ve had a very high bid cancelled on my auctions. A third buyer who won her auction told me she was going to withhold payment for two days while she decided whether she wanted the LP. All of these LP’s were in the triple digits. Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay?
Thanks!
(Please note that due to time constraints, I have had to stop play-testing my vinyl. However, I am happy to by request. As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
