THE BEATLES "Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band"
Parlophone SLPEA 1006 (pressed in Singapore)
After the first few UK copies which were brought here in miniscule quanties, the EMI Singapore started pressing Sgt Peppers here of which there were of 3 variants ie
1) the very first pressing on yellow/black Parlophone had original UK Garrod & Lofthouse jackets but with the viny pressed here but with all tracks as originally recorded;
2) the second pressings came with both the jacket and vinyl manufactured here but with no change to the tracks and also on the yellow/black labels;
3) its the third pressing which has become as rare as the proverbial hen's teeth. The authorities then became very puritanical and started cracking down on anything with even a hint of the 60s counter culture sweeping the world and, by extension, the region around here. Even Government departments had a policy of attending to males with long hair last and had metal notice boards to that effect at Government offices, which has become a collectible but thats another story. Sgt Peppers was one such casualty. It was deemed by the powers to be that three tracks were promoting drugs ie 'With A Little Help From My Friends', 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds', and 'A Day In The Life'. These were removed and substituted with 'The Fool On The Hill' , 'Baby You're A Rich Man' and 'I'm The Walrus' respectively. Unlike the other 2 Singapore pressings , this was on the boxed Parlophone label with silver printing, housed in a gatefold jacket laminated on both the front and back and with the insert, but with a different catalogue number. It has become quite rare as most Beatles fans here shunned it due to the altered tracks and did not sell as well as the other 2 variants. I suppose that with the innocence of youth, none of us could have foreseen that it will become a collectible! (see results of my grading below-the second photo graph has the flash reflection and it is not a flaw).
UK buyers please also note that I am based in Singapore but the system assumes that as a seller on Ebay,UK should indicate a UK postage cost of 4GBP which may not even cover surface postage let alone registration (ie tracking). Please read my shipping section below.
Bidders who are viewing this on Ebay, US & Canada please note that I originally listed this under Ebay, UK where I ticked the item condition as 'used'. I did exercise the option of listing it under Ebay, US & Canada(for a fee of course!). Somehow, these listings are appearing under Ebay US & Canada as 'like new' and I can't seem to change it under that site . It should read as 'used'.
