The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
(Parlophone PCS 7027 UK LP 1967)
This is a UK original Stereo LP pressing. It has a fully laminated gatefold sleeve which has inner flipbacks. The sleeve has a thicker spine than most 1967, & all subsequent, UK copies. This is knows as the "Wide Spine" sleeve variation. It comes with its original "cut-out" card insert. It has a period plain white comapny paper inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has yellow & black "Parlophone" labels. These have "The Gramophone Co..." and "Sold in UK...." texts. The record has 1st press YEX 637-1 and YEX 638-1 matrix numbers. The mother stampers are P 2 and O 2 respectively.
This is a genuine UK 1st Press Stereo LP. The "wide spine" sleeve was the earliest UK sleeve variation. These only came with the very 1st UK pressings. The spine is much wider than all subsequent UK pressings. These seem to more common on UK Mono pressings & less common on Stereo pressings.
Gatefold Sleeve: There is a 1.5 cm strip of fading to the front sleeve. This runs along at the spine area. There is some mild rippling to the sleeve on the rear. There is some mild to more moderate rubbing wear to the corner tips. VG- condition
Vinyl: There are some moderate sleeve rubs which can be seen under a strong light. There are bout 5 or 6 light surface/ hairline marks. These measure from 1 cm to 6 cm in length. Good+ condition. The labels are in excellent condition & show light spindle wear only. The company plain paper inner sleeve is in VG condition. There is some mild to more moderate ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits.
The card "cut-out" insert is in Excellent condition and shows minimal wear only.
I have fully play tested this LP. It plays VG+ overall & Near Excellent in some places. There is some light, mild or very mild crackle in some quieter places. There are no loud clicks or pops. Overall, a very reasonable audio copy.
