Description
The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
(Parlophone PMC 7027 UK LP 1967)
This is the very rare 1968-1969 UK Mono LP pressing which omits "A Day In The Life" from Side 2's tracklisting. It has a heavyweight fully laminated gatefold sleeve which has inner flipbacks at the top. It comes with its original generic company plain paper inner sleeve. This was the 1st UK pressing not to come with the custom red & white "psychedelic" inner sleeve. It comes with its original "cut-out" card insert.
The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has black & yellow "Parlophone" labels. These have "The Gramophone Co..." and "Sold in UK..." texts. The matrix numbers & mother stamper are:
Side 1: XEX 637-1.(MMD 6)
Side 2: XEX 638-1 (MAT 7)
As stated, Side 2's label omits the track "A Day In The Life". This early UK Mono variation/ mis-pressing is extremely scarce. Don't miss out!
Gatefold Sleeve: There is some light, mild or more moderate rubbing wear to the corner tips. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear. There are a few small & light laminate creases. There are two extremely small (0.3 cm and 0.5 cm) tears on the rear sleeve opening. These hardly notice. VG+ condition
Vinyl: Firstly, there is a very small 1 cm hairline mark toward the end of Side 1. This feels to the touch everso slightly. It causes some light or mild intermittent clicks toward the end of "She's Leaving Home" and into the very start of "...Mr Kite". It does not last too long. It does not jump. Otherwise, there are some mild to moderate sleeve rubs which can be seen under a strong light. The paper inner sleeve has left some light or very mild marks on the vinyl on some areas. There are a couple of other very small surface marks. Good+ condition. The labels are in near excellent condition & show light or mild spindle wear only. The company plain paper inner sleeve is in VG+ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear & creasing. There are no seam splits.
The card "cut-out" insert is in Near Excellent condition. There is some light or very mild rubbing wear on a few areas.
I have fully play tested this LP. Apart from the aforementioned intermittent clicks, which do not last too long, on Side 1. The record plays VG+ to Near Excellent overall. There is some light, mild or very mild crackle in some quieter places. Overall, a very reasonable audio copy.
