Description
So, after many years of hoarding and collecting, I have decided to join Ebay and get rid of a few. This is from my collection of rare records, which I will be selling over the course of the next few months. It spans many years, and numerous genres of music. There will be many LP's and 7" singles...and maybe a few 12" singles.
THE BEATLES - SGT PEPPERS LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND LP, CATALOGUE NUMBER PCS 7027 – ORIGINAL SINGAPORE PARLOPHONE.
This was released in Singapore with the Black & Yellow Parlophone Label, with the wording 'Made in Singapore by EMI Records (SEA) Ltd'. This LP is an original 1967 issue, and contains the same tracks as the UK version. The strange thing is that all issues were meant to be exactly the same upon original release, however this one ended up with Side Two being Side One and vice versa. I am not sure how and why, and have not found reference as to why. There are later (1970's) Singapore issues that change the tracks due to some arbitrary censorship about drugs, but this is an original Black & Yellow Parlophone label issue. The actual music and labels reflect this, as though it was a conscious decision to release it like this...differently to all other original issues.
The side 1 matrix is YEX 638-1, & Side 2 matrix is YEX 637-1.
The sleeve is a UK printed one (as they all were), which is fully laminated and has the two flipbacks inside the gatefold. This is worn on the corners and edges. The cut-out insert is also printed in England, and is in excellent undamaged condition.
The vinyl has some light surface marks and is a little crackly in places. There is some spindlewear on this, though quite light.
I'll be honest, this one has stumped me for many years, as to why they swapped sides around, and I kept it purely because of this. I am not sticking a reserve on this, as I have no clue about it. Hopefully some of you more knowledgeable Beatles fans will know. I will be sending it with some method of tracking, hence the postage price...hopefully for it is a rarity, hopefully for you, a collectable! I can't even find a reference to it in the Beatles Bible Discography for Singapore.
