This album was The Beatles FIRST release on the now famous Apple label. It was entered into the charts on the 7th of December 1968 and went straight to number one-where it stayed for 7 weeks! Making it the FIRST double album to get the top slot...EVER!

The rather unusual fact about this album is that it was the first release by The Beatles which contained only SOLO material.

By the time 1970 ended, the total sales of this wonderful album were estimated to be 6.5 Million! However...get this...The only other album that beat this a few years later was "Saturday Night fever" !!!

The Vinyl:

VG- visually but VG(+) Audio

There are light marks to the vinyl, but nothing at all to make her jump or skip-I have just finished listening to the whole of the album after giving her a vacuum clean, followed by an ultrasonic bath and then a final suck on the vac cleaner. I found the audio to be rich and clear with bassy lows and nice clear peaks too.

I noticed a small degree of background noise to the quieter side 4, but nothing offensive what-so-ever...Just the occasional light and soft background bit of crackle.

Very nice-a simple joy to listen to.

The labels:

All four of the labels are wonderfully bright and clean with only light spindle marks, visible when angled towards the light.

"Sold in the U.K." and "EMI recording" text on all four sides.

The Cover:

It is TOP loading with a lovely shine to it.

Garrod and Lofthouse flipback without tears, rips or writing!! The spine is still strong too.

The corners have only very light rubbing/knocking to them..

There are only some VERY SMALL areas of crescent spidering to the front and back laminate-Near the openings, as well as just a couple of small fingers of spidering emanating from the edges...I am being incredibly critical, please see the detailed photo's for yourself.

To the back top right corner is an original price sticker-easily removed if the buyer wishes to...I’ve left it on as I quite like the authenticity it brings.

To the back I noticed a bit of light rin-wear.

Very nice copy.

Inners:

Poor

BLACK. These are the all original BLACK inners. They have got a lot of wear to them, with creases and splits, but are ORIGINAL & EVER INCREASINGLY RARE ORIGINAL BLACK INNERS!
