Beatles “The Beatles’ Story” First Pressing LP Still in Shrink NM

(Note to newbies: “Still in shrink does not mean still sealed!  It means the album is opened, but the owner didn’t pull the shrink off the cover.)

This week’s auctions are from my A-List.  All Beatles LP’s listed will either be first or second pressings, all still in the shrink!  Be sure to look at them all.

Imagine it’s Christmas Day, 1964.  You open your gift, and it’s this LP.  You slice it open, listen to it once, and then put it away for 55 years.  That’s what this LP looks like.

Cover--- Near mint cover, looks practically brand new!  As anyone who has collected knows, this cover is always moderately to heavily worn with ringwear or dirtwear, because of the nearly all-white graphics.  Not this one.  All seams are muscular strong.  Bottom right corner has a very slight push-in, where the cover is exposed from the open shrink.  This gatefold has never been opened since 1964!  The very subtle difference between the gatefold’s white slick and the front’s cream-colored slick is still VERY noticeable.  (That difference is usually blended as the cover ages and gets dirty.)  There are two breathe holes on the back, no RIAA.  You’ll not find a nicer first pressing cover for this LP unless it is still sealed.

Inner Sleeves---The originally issued inner sleeves are present.  They’re the Capitol blue sleeves.  All seams are steady-strong on both.  No splits.  Your “The Beatles’ Story” LP's will be shipped in generic inner sleeves, so as not to damage your original Capitol sleeves during shipping.

Vinyl---Drop-dead gorgeous, gleaming blinding vinyl.  Looks stunning brand new.  Among all four sides, there might be one or two extremely light lines in the mirror vinyl.  You’ll find them under a direct bright and bare bulb, but not in normal room lighting.  Plates are V4/ W1 and W3/ A1.

Labels---Labels are perfect.  Not a single spindle mark.  This copy is configured Sides 1/4 and 2/3.  A couple extra niceties about the labels.  First, the Sides 1/4 LP uses the extremely rare deep blue Capitol domes.  These are next to impossible to find!  Most domes are white with a bluish tint, which the second disc has.  You’ll see the difference.  Secondly, the Sides 2/3 LP has a tiny error on the label, where there are letters which aren’t so much double-stamped as much as double embedded into the label.  Not super valuable, but certainly kinda cool.  Never saw that happen on another label.  See photo.  Scranton pressing.

(Please note that due to time constraints, I have had to stop play-testing my vinyl.  However, I am happy to by request.  As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
