Description
I’ll stick to nothing but a description of the condition of all the components of this Beatles Classic. I’m guessing you’re already familiar with the music.
Cover:
Clean and solid. There is no chipping of the gloss finish. There are no rips or tears. There is no writing or stickers. There is no ring wear. There are no folds or bent corners. The amount of shelf wear is mild as the corners aren’t razor sharp but also not soft. The spine is intact and legible. I guess I’d go with a really solid VG+ in the strictest way and perhaps even a little bit better.
Insert:
Clean, clean, clean with a small bump located at the upper, left, front corner.
Inner Sleeve:
A few stains and green magic marker mark that is about an inch in size.
Please examine and expand the provided photos to see all that I’ve described. I placed everything under bright photography lamps for the photos to show any flaws that might be hidden in normal lighting. Actually it all looks quite good in normal light.
The Vinyl:
Here’s the best part. The sound is stellar. No background noise. The band-less vinyl surface has only the slightest of any marks at all and plays beautifully. I know the remastered records that are now available sound amazing but so does this record. I have always preferred the MONO mix of this album, it’s not even close in my opinion, and after giving it one final listen as I’m writing this description, I am even more convinced that a MONO first pressing of this album might be the best forty odd minutes of recorded music ever created (and yes the inner groove is there in all its perpetual glory).
In summing up here’s an all around great copy of a first UK MONO PRESSING of maybe the high point in recorded music history. No it’s not mint, just a very well cared for album in way better than average condition that plays magnificently. A definite must have if there ever was one.
