READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

I recently took in a large collection of Beatles albums, which range in condition from a nice VG to EX.  They feature labels from first pressing Capitol to Apple through to the purple Capitol label.  I tossed out all the garbage, and will be selling these copies interspersed with my regular inventory for anyone who would like to have great play-copies, but who generally can’t afford the rarer variations for sale.

The vinyl is collectable on these, although the covers may be a bit dirty, and/or split.  Here’s one that’s a great keeper and a solid play copy!

Beatles VI 1965 MONO LP with POSTER in Shrink, 1 Title Above Playhole Corrected, SCARCE VG+!

These LA pressings with the one title above the playhole are VERY hard to come across.  I’ve seen less than half a dozen in 50 years, and this is the only MONO copy I’ve ever owned.

Even scarcer are the labels from the first run, which has corrected the publishing credits for “Words of Love” from ASCAP to BMI. 99%of these labels start with the 1969 "Subsidiary of..." run, and continue through the end of vinyl pressings.  Check your first pressing copies.  They will say ASCAP if you don’t believe me.

This copy had a poster tucked inside the jacket.  I don’t know a thing about it.  I’m assuming it did not come with the album, but the image looks like it was from the same photo session as the album cover.  George is the only one who didn’t change clothes, it seems.

Vinyl--- Strong VG+, both sides.  I was torn between giving this copy a VG++.  Not as strong as EX, but certainly with lots of original glow, 85 to 90%.  Nice copy!

Plates--- F13/F15.  Machine-stamped asterisk in the dead wax makes this copy pressed in Los Angeles.

Cover--- VG+.  Very nice first-printed cover would have graded stronger but for two things.  First, it looks like this copy was a gift.  The price tag was cut out of the shrink, right above George’s head.  There are light cuts into the cover.  Secondly, there’s a hole punch in the top right corner.  Otherwise, this cover is in great condition.

Back cover reads, “See Label for Correct Playing Order.”

Breathe Holes--- There is one breathe hole on the front cover on George’s tie.  There may well have been one cut out with the price tag.

Poster--- VG.  It actually looks really good, but the corners are damaged from having been pinned to some teenager’s wall.  (John: “Probably yours.”)

Labels--- NM/NM.  Both of the rare labels are beautiful 1965-brand new-looking.  NO SPINDLE MARKS.  No Geroge Martin production credits.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- VG. Original 1965 Capitol inner sleeve is present.  Features the rarer “Capitol Records, Inc.” sleeve that was only in use for 1965, along with the olive green sleeve.

Two seams have splits a few inches or less.  Otherwise, sleeve presents well.  Nice and flat, barely any record outdent.  Unfortunately, it also has the corresponding hole punch.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: 6

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

Note:  All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.

CAUTION!  There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids.  A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.

Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
