READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

Beatles VI LP 1968 Rarest Subsidiary of 1 Title Above Playhole, Refreshed Plates, NM!

Collectors are familiar with this tough label from the first pressing Los Angeles pressing, which features one title above the playhole on each side.  See Compere Photo. Those are hard enough to find!  If you’re not on the west coast, you aren’t going to find a first pressing very easily.

But this label is the earliest LA “Subsidiary of…” label from 1968, which used that scarce label layout for just a brief period of time before the newly-reworked LA “Subsidiary of…” labels were prepared and ready for press.  Those are the labels we all know.  See Compere Photo for that one, too.

Rarest of all LA “Subsidiary of…” labels, if this is the first one you’ve ever seen, take that as a sign that it may be the last one as well.

**And it’s in stunning archival condition.**

Vinyl--- NM/NM.  Both sides look VERY close to being brand new, with the exceptions of an extremely light and short line per side that you’re going to have to scour a good light source to find.

Plates--- A13/B12. Machine-stamped asterisk in the dead wax makes this copy pressed in Los Angeles. Definitely refreshed plates for better sound quality.  Original first pressings went as far as W plates, which meant they were wearing out.

Cover--- EX. This cover is a promo, featuring the clean quarter-inch hole in the top right corner.  These copies were issued with first-pressing covers, with the “See Label for Correct Playing Order” disclaimer on the back.

This cover is remarkably clean.  The only issue is that the initials, “PB” are written modestly in red ballpoint on the front.  NO RINGWEAR, NO RECORD OUTDENT. Just a hint of dirtwear on both front and back covers.  All seams are strong, just a little shelfwear to the bottom seam, not much at all.  NO SEAM SPLITS.

Labels--- NM/EX.  Both labels look stunning brand new.  Side 1 label has no spindle marks.  Side 2 label has just one very light one.

Inner Sleeve--- VG.  Sleeve presents as EX.  This is the grey inner sleeve issued from the west coast that has no die-cut hole for the labels to show.  I usually see these sleeves with promo copies of the “Subsidiary of…” Help! Album.  One side seam and the bottom seam have splits a few inches long.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: 6

**If you’re in need of a keeper, this one’s it.  If you’re just now discovering this label variation, congratulations!  This is yours.**

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

Note:  All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.

CAUTION!  There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids.  A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.

Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
