Description

I’m putting up for auction MORE BEATLES PICTURE SLEEVES (extra copies) FROM MY OWN  COLLECTION. So, if you want to begin a collection of Beatles Singles Picture please check out my other current auctions for items you may want.

In this auction are the following:

1 Vee Jay Records Picture Cover & 1 Vee Jay Records EP 7-inch Record

·       “SOUVENIR OF THEIR VISIT TO AMERICA” Extended Play (EP) by the Beatles

·       This is Vee Jay 1-903.

·       It was issued in March of 1964.

·       This EP contains 4 songs. Side 1: “MISERY” & “A TASTE OF HONEY” Side 2: “ASK ME WHY” & “ANNA”.

·       This EP was issued in a cardboard cover entitled “SOUVENIR OF THEIR VISIT TO AMERICA”.

·       The PICTURE COVER is in VG CONDITION. The cover has moderate overall wear. Despite the wear, the images on both sides still look quite good (just check out the images!). There is edge/seam wear on the top seam and on the bottom seam. The top seam is split halfway (3½ inches) from the middle of the seam to the opening.  The bottom seam is split for just 1-Inch from the opening. At the top of the spine, ¼ inch is bald. The bottom corner at the bottom of the spine is also bald. The bottom right corner has some wear including slight rounding and slight feathering. The top right corner is the best corner though split.

·       There were several versions of this EP issued by VJ Records (oval logo, brackets logo, all-black label). The record in this auction has the ALL-BLACK LABEL with SILVER OVAL LOGO with “ASK ME WHY” in the same size font as the other titles.

·       According to Perry Cox, THIS LABEL VARIATION IS THE RAREST OF THE COMMERCIALLY-RELEASED VARIATIONS (which excludes the promotional issues)!!!

·       The VINYL is in Strong VG CONDITION. There are light surface hairlines/scuffs. There is some light circles/spotting on the labels.

·       The EP format (7-inch record with 2 songs on each side) for Beatles’ records was not common at all in the U.S. In fact, only 3 Beatles’ EPs were commercially released in the U.S. in the 1960s: 2 were issued by Capitol Records and only one, the record in this auction, was issued by Vee Jay Records. (Check my other current auctions for one of the Capitol Records EPs.)

·       While the cover is not in the same condition as the vinyl, this BEATLES VEE JAY EP is still RARE and deserves a place in someone’s vinyl collection!

Thanks to the Price Guide for the Beatles American Records by Perry Cox and Frank Daniels for information about this record.
