Description

John, Paul, George and Ringo released their ninth studio album in England on November 22, 1968. The U. S. release followed three days later making the Brit version the true first pressing. The working title for this 2-LP set, the first release on the then newly formed Apple Records, had been The Doll's House after Henrik Ibsen's 19th century masterpiece. The title later became simply: The Beatles. Because of its stark cover designed by pop artist Richard Hamilton, fans nicknamed it The White Album. The nickname stuck.
