Rarity: Very Rare especially so being a Parlophone Label "Factory Sample Not For Sale" (Demo) in this wonderful condition and with it's original and correct "Fran the Fan" sleeve. No more than 500 Singles/Albums were allocated these stickers on 1st Pressings and were handed out to Executives at EMI, DJ's and Major Record Outlets. These were NOT for sale to the general public.

Brief Artist & Album/Single Info: "We Can Work It Out" was first issued as a Double A side single with "Day Tripper" in December 1965. The release marked the first time in Britain that both tracks on an artist's single were promoted as joint A-sides. The song was recorded during the sessions for the band's "Rubber Soul" album. The single was number 1 in Britain (where it was also the top-selling single of 1965), America, Australia, Canada and Ireland.

"We Can Work It Out" is a comparatively rare example of a Lennon/McCartney collaboration from this period in the Beatles' career, in that it recalls the level of collaboration the two songwriters had shared when writing the group's hit singles of 1963. This song, "A Day In The Life", "Baby You're A Rich Man" and "Iv'e Got A feeling", are among the notable exceptions. 

In a discussion about which of the two songs should be the A-side of the new single, Lennon had argued for "Day Tripper", differing with the majority view that "We Can Work It Out" was a more commercial song. On 15 November, EMI announced that the A-side would be "We Can Work It Out", only for Lennon to publicly contradict this two days later. As a result, the single was marketed as the first-ever "double A-side".  Lennon's championing of "Day Tripper", for which he was the principal writer, was based on his belief that the Beatles' rock sound should be favoured over the softer style of "We Can Work It Out".  Airplay and point-of-sale requests soon proved "We Can Work It Out" to be the more popular of the two sides.

CONDITION 

LABELS:

The Black & Yellow Silver Parlophone Labels have at the begining of the perimeter text is "THE GRAMOPHONE CO. LTD" and The "SOLD IN THE U.K. SUBJECT TO RESALE CONDITIONS' SEE PRICE LIST" to the centers. They are Both in SUPER condition with Very Little signs of Spindle Wear or Spider Marks. I would grade these as Very Good++/Ex!!!!

VINYL:

Plays throughout absolutely brilliant, with no Pops, Clicks or Jumps. The record still contains that glossy sheen though there are several surface marks and thumbnails. However these in NO way interfere with the superb sound quality. This Single plays up to and  beyond its high visual grading with hardly anything of note to fault. It offers strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear – sound quality is very high with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound. A typical polished production from George Martin. Minimal surface sound and no tracking issues. This play-grade proved a real pleasure when playing this fast disappearing single, this being the first example I have had for some time, and possibly the best all-round one for me yet. It will prove quite difficult to find a significantly better copy and merits a very strong recommendation. I would grade both sides as Very Good++/Excellent!!!! 

COVER: The cover is the ORIGINAL Fran The Fan sleeve that accompanied this single. It truly is in Remarkable condition. There are NO rips, tears or writing anywhere to be seen. This cover is incredibly difficult to find in Ex+ condition simply because of it's design and age. However I would be happy enough to grade it as Very Good++!!!!

COVER SUMMARY: Not seen often, this one is in lovely condition with only gentle clues of age, any blemishes mostly light. This classic cover should please many collectors.

Single Played For Grading: I play/grade ALL records I offer before submitting, I also play them in their entirety unless clearly stated otherwise. I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness – I play from the beginning to end. I use a Linn LP12 Sondek turntable with Ittok Mk II arm and Ortofon Quintet Black moving coil cartridge and Linn Lingo, with my Linn system and Forest Totem Speakers. This system is guaranteed  to pick up any distortion or interference within the sound.

Grading: In my opinion I REFUSE to believe that there is ANY record that can be truly graded as Mint; the BEST that could be offered is Mint- (minus)!!!! Especially so from the 50's, 60's, 70's or even up to the present date!!!! Even copies bought new today would have some form of imperfection on the Record or Cover!!!! Under that assumption I will NEVER use the word Mint in any of my descriptions and Mint- is the HIGHEST grade I would ever offer. So I will only from Excellent, Good or Poor with a -(minus), +(plus) or ++(plus, plus)!!!!
