MONO White Album
VG
This album was The Beatles FIRST release on the now famous Apple label. It was entered into the charts on the 7th of December 1968 and went straight to number one-where it stayed for 7 weeks! Making it the FIRST double album to get the top slot...EVER!
The rather unusual fact about this album is that it was the first release by The Beatles which contained only SOLO material.
By the time 1970 ended, the total sales of this wonderful album were estimated to be 6.5 Million! However...get this...The only other album that beat this a few years later was "Saturday Night fever" !!!
Catagory Number: PMC 7067/8
The Vinyl: Gorgeous shiny vinyl. There are faint hairline marks as well as a couple very small needle marks which do not make her jump or skip-I have just finished listening to the majority of the album. There is a small degree of background noise which I believe will reduce with a clean.
Very nice-a simple joy to listen to even with the light background noise and the occasional tiny pop.
The labels: All four of the labels are extremely bright and clean with only light spindle marks. "Sold in the U.K." and "EMI recording" text on all four sides. There is a name to each of the labels-please see the detailed images. With only the lightest of spindle marks-only visible when angled to the light.
Matrix Numbers: XEX:
709-1
710-1
711-1
712-1
WOW....ONE OF THE VERY FIRST OFF THE PRESS
The Cover: It is TOP loading with a lovely shine to it. Garrod and Lofthouse flipback without tears, rips or writing!! The spine is still strong. There is one tiny nick to the top of the back sleeve-1cm!
The corners have some rubbing to them and the bottom left corner has a little bash to it.
There are only a couple of VERY SMALL areas of crescent spidering to the front and back laminate-Near the openings as well as some fingers of spidering eminating from the the edges...I am being incredibly critical, please see the detailed photo's for yourself.
Very nice copy.
Inners: BLACK. These are the all original BLACK inners. They have got wear to them, with creases and splits, but have done their job in looking after the record all these years and are THE EVER INCREASINGLY RARE ORIGINAL BLACK INNERS!
Pictures: There are 2 pictures present-George and Paul. They appear to be reproductions-but faithfully done! No pin-holes.
Poster: ORIGINAL 1st press poster with the kiss in the middle. She has had some wear too, with a few splits to the crease where she has been folded, as well as some spots of blooming. Other than that-the corners are still wonderfully sharp and displays little fading.
ALL IN ALL THIS IS AN INCREDIBLY EARLY PRESSING OF AN ICONIC ALBUM WITH 1/1/1/1 MATRICIES-TOP LOADING AND THE ORIGINAL BLACK INNERS!
