READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Beatles LP White Album 1st Pressing IMPOSSIBLE “Litho in U.S.A.” Cover, Complete, EX Vinyl!

THE NEVER-CONFIRMED COVER!

These covers are so scarce that they are not mentioned in any of the great books.  That includes Bruce Spizer’s terrific book, “The Beatles on Apple Records,” in which he spends three pages, detailing every aspect of every printing of these covers from every printing plant.

Finally found my keeper after 40 years! 

That keeper is only the second copy I’ve ever seen with this cover.  Both have Jacksonville discs. There are those who say that this is the Canadian cover, but it isn’t, and you can verify that for yourself.  I own three Canadian first pressings, and have sold one last year.  None of those four has the disclaimer.  There are also Canadian copies for sale regularly on eBay, including right now.  You can see for yourself that there are no Canadian covers with the disclaimer.

These are extremely difficult to find!

Vinyl--- EX/ EX. EX/ EX.  This set is very beautiful!  The vinyl looks dangerously close to NM on three sides.  Side 2 has a handful of very small light lines.  See photo.  That's my arm's reflection on the side 4 surface, not a scratch.

Plates--- J55/ J53. J45/ J56.  Hand-etched letter “O” in the dead wax on all four sides makes this copy pressed in Jacksonville.

Cover--- VG.  Not much in the way of dirtwear. Light ringwear.  Top first pocket is split about 4 inches, bottom seam back pocket has a center split about one inch.  Top right cover has a stain.  Light foxing.

Gatefold--- Center seam is strong, NO SPLITS.  Bottom left corner has only the catalogue number, “SWBO-101,” no “Apple Records,” which was added on second pressings.  Light to moderate foxing in areas.

“Litho in U.S.A.” appears at the top left of the gatefold.  This copy cuts off the first part of the word, “Litho.”

Labels--- NM/ NM. NM/ NM.  NO SPINDLE MARKS.

Poster--- Very nice VG.  It would grade much higher, except that there is some rippling from moisture.

Four Photos--- EX/ NM/ NM/ NM.  All four photos look brand new, freshly-printed.  The only exception is that John’s photo has two light lines down the right side.  All have the “Printed in U.S.A.” in a circle without the second-run “Apple Records, Inc.” disclaimer.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- Generic white sleeves.

Took me since 1983 to find a second copy.  Are you gonna risk it?

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
