Front Cover
Number is 235579. No zeroes before it. Some very light ringwear, corner wear and edge creasing. The top right corner has some more significant creasing (see photo) but there are no rips, no writing, no laminate tearing. The embossed 'The BEATLES' and the number are clearly visible and unworn.

Rear Cover
Much the same as the front but with perhaps just a little more ringwear. There is creasing to the top left corner but not as much as the front (see photo).

Spine
THE BEATLES name and both the MONO and STEREO catalogue numbers are clearly visible with just a few barely noticeable creases - see photos.

Gatefold
Some light ringwear, light creasing and perhaps, if I'm being very analytical, some very light 'yellowing' associated with age. All text and pictures clearly visible - just light age related wear really. Printing is by G & L Int. Ltd.

Inner Sleeve / Inserts
Comes with white Apple Copyright paper inners. One of these has a small split (~ 2cm) in the bottom edge; the other is fully intact and neither has side splits. The paper is flimsy but has survived with only some age-related yellowing.

The four photos are as good as new! Totally unmarked and uncreased in any way! These came with this package, as did the poster/lyric sheet. They have not been 'mixed n matched'.

The poster is excellent, with no seam splits, rips, pin, blu-tac or adhesive marks (so it's never been on a wall!). It just has light and insignificant creasing here and there.

The lyric side, again, has very light creasing and a few light stains and age-related grubbiness on the folds. Overall very respectable and never been on a wall!

VINYL

Side 1
Label is nice and clean with vibrant colouring and just some extremely light spindle wear. The vinyl has some very light hairline marks here and there but still retains a healthy sheen.

Side 2
As side 1 but label is immaculate. I can see no spindle marks at all. Again, some very light hairline marks here and there but still retains a healthy sheen.

Side 3
Label is nice and clean with vibrant colouring and just some extremely light spindle wear. Unfortunately, there is a light 'scratch' across most of the bottom half from about 1cm in and across the matrix. This is visible in the first and third photos below. However, a friend of mine has played it and he said it did not affect play on his system.

Side 4
I can see one incredibly fine spindle mark on the label. Again, the vinyl has a few hairline marks but still has a nice deep sheen.

Miscellaneous Information
This is not a first press 'toploader'. I believe it may be a 5th or 6th Press from the early 1970s. I am also led to believe that these side openers were not supposed to be numbered but there you go...Also, these later pressings were stereo only so I don't know why the spine lists both mono and stereo cat. numbers. I'm not a Beatles expert; I'm just putting it up for sale with what I hope is a thorough and honest description with decent photos.

I have play tested this right through. There is crackle between tracks and during the quieter passages. Obviously it's not evident in the louder tracks. There is no sticking, jumping or other major issues.

Records are cultural, artistic and historical artefacts in my opinion (probably. If you after a copy that plays impeccably with pristine sound reproduction I suggest you listen via CD or buy a newly pressed LP. Or you could maybe ‘download’ it. Ones and zeroes with no tangible existence…now that is true philistinism!
