This album was The Beatles FIRST release on the now famous Apple label. It was entered into the charts on the 7th of December 1968 and went straight to number one-where it stayed for 7 weeks! Making it the FIRST double album to get the top slot...EVER!

The rather unusual fact about this album is that it was the first release by The Beatles which contained only SOLO material.

By the time 1970 ended, the total sales of this wonderful album were estimated to be 6.5 Million! However...get this...The only other album that beat this a few years later was "Saturday Night fever" !!!

The Vinyl:

EASY EX.

Wonderful vinyl with equally superb sound reproduction. After giving her a gentle vacuum clean-I have just listened to her all the way through-Truely marvelous! All there is, are a few very light marks to the vinyl-which do not affect playback at all.....A simple pleasure to listen too-ESPECIALLY UP LOUD!

Each disc has good weight especially disc 2, which weighs in at a mammoth 172g., with disc 1 weighing in at a very respectible158g

When playing each side 1 disc, I noticed a bell warp-which wasn’t noticeable when playing side 2 of both discs and had ZERO effect on playback-which remained clean and clear throughout.

Interestingly; I noticed the following differences on playback:

• Harmonies were much clearer on Dear Prudence

• Ringos bongos were a lot clearer and defined on Honey Pie

• The bass line in Helter Skelter is gorgeously deep and frantic-much more pronounced and ‘in your face.’ (I have included a clip of this track so you can hear for yourselves-and see the slight warp-which, as you can hear, doesn't make any difference to audio output)

The audio really stood out with just occasional, very faint background noise-nothing offensive whatsoever (I only managed to notice 4 or 5 soft pops throughout all 4 sides!)….Sooo good, I managed to pick out different audio I hadn’t heard in the UK pressings before!!

The labels:

All four of the labels are lovely and clean with only a very few of the lightest spindle marks, visible only when angled towards the light and really trying to look for them, nothing at all to worry about-Please see the detailed photo's.

"GEMA" boxed text at the 9 O’Clock position on all four sides.

Very Frameable.

The Cover:

It is TOP LOADING and embossed with the NUMBER 0159676

This little beauty has stood the passage of time incredibly well. Only has light shelf wear with light rubbing.

The corners have just light rubbing.

The spine is uncrushed and brilliantly strong.

The singular point of note is the water staining to the top-please see the detailed images for yourselves.

Inner images and track listing are as fresh today as they were when printed.

Quite an unusual cover, to be numbered AND made in Germany….Very 1st pressing I believe.

Yep, the poster is present and in great shape!

It is slightly glossy and has a couple of small tears to the edges-Would still frame very well.

Overall, she looks and sounds magical.

I got to hear MANY different arrangements due to the clarity and slightly different pressing of this quality German slab of vinyl from back in the 1960’s!
