Description
What It Is: This is the 2 lp White Album as reissued in Japan in 1982 on beautiful translucent red vinyl -- with the rare mono mix.
I assume that I don't have to talk about the music on this album, so let's get right to this specific copy...
The good news: the jacket has no ring wear, though I'll call it VG++ for just a little wear if you look very closely -- the front and back are nicely glossy. The four pictures of the boys are clean and crisp. The fold-out poster is clean, uncreased, and seemingly hardly ever opened. The Japanese lyric sheet is also clean and uncreased. The vinyl shows no spindle marks.
The bad news: there is no OBI. The vinyl plays with some tics and surface noise, during the lead-in groove and between songs (I'm going to rate it VG+).
Personally, I've upgraded to a better copy, because these red vinyl mono reissues should play without surface noise. As I mentioned above, there are no spindle marks, and the surface looks beautiful. I can't explain why this one is a little noisy. Back to the good side, there is no groove distortion anywhere on the record, so it isn't from being played with a bad stylus / misaligned cartridge.
All I can say is that perhaps this will be the budget copy that allows you to get one of these remarkable reissues without having to spend top dollar.
