READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Beatles With Tony Sheridan and Guests MONO LP RARE Second MGM Label

By the time this LP went into its extremely short-lived second pressing, the teenaged record-buying public had already become suspicious of any Beatles album not bearing their actual image on the cover.  As a result, it was a waste of MGM’s time and money to have printed up this second label variation, getting a taste of their own medicine for wasting America’s teenagers’ time and money.  They weren’t buying it.

Instant collector’s item.

Vinyl--- NM/ NM.  Stunning vinyl.

Plates--- Both sides have the catalogue number as well as the Side designation.

Cover--- Structurally solid cover.  All seams intact, but there is light to moderate shelfwear to seams and spine.  Not bad.  Front cover slick is just beginning separating from the cardboard beneath. Light dirtwear to both the front and back covers.  Pretty good cover, overall!

Labels--- EX/ NM.  Side 1 label has some wear to the top.  See photo.  This label variation features a few differences.  First, the label texture on the original is smooth and glossy, whereas this label is porous and glossy.  That’s not dust in the photos, it’s the light reflecting off the porous-textured labels.

Secondly, the text layout is completely different than the first labels.  Whereas the first labels had more concentrated text to the center, these labels have the text much more spread out.  See photo comparison.

Thirdly, the concentric ring on the first label was more consistent with Capitol’s ring, whereas this pressing has a concentric groove much more like RCA’s deep groove, much closer to the edge of the labels.

And fourthly, with the exceptions of “My Bonnie” and “The Saints,” all of the subtitles on the first label variation have been removed from the second label variation.

“Flying Beat” is missing “The Man on the Flying Trapeze.”

“Rye Beat” is missing “Comin’ Thru the Rye.”

“Summertime Beat” is missing “In the Good Old Summertime.”

“Happy New Year Beat” is missing “Auld Lang Syne.”

MGM Inner Sleeve--- Very nice.  NO SPLITS.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
