In REMARKABLE **Near Mint** condition, this is an EXTREMELY RARE OPPORTUNITY to purchase one of the Rarest of all Beatles albums. This is an ORIGINAL 1966 2nd State Pasted Over Trunk Cover **BUTCHER** LP for the Beatles 'Yesterday & Today' Release still retained in its **ORIGINAL SHRINK WRAP**!

Original Shrink Wrapped examples of this MONSTER RARE album in PRISTINE condition are extremely hard to find, and as an additional bonus this one comes complete with a Capitol Records Recall Letter **Personally signed by Capitol Records President at the time, Alan Livingstone**. The signature reads 'To Jeff from the then President of Capitol, Alan Livingstone'.

This SUPER RARE 'Paste Over' conceals the controversial **BUTCHER** Cover beneath the Pasted Over Trunk Slick, and on close inspection **you can clearly see the 'V' of Ringo's Turtleneck Sweater through the Pasted Over Slick!**. Collectors will be aware that Capitol Records withdrew the Butcher Cover almost immediately after it was issued, as it was thought to be unsuitable (too gruesome!) for general release due to the Controversial nature of the BUTCHER sleeve, which shows The Beatles in White Jackets holding dismembered dolls and pieces of raw animal flesh. Instead of destroying the offending sleeve, Capitol Records decided to 'Paste Over' a more suitable sleeve, referred to as the 'Pasted Over Trunk Cover' showing The Beatles more suitably dressed posing around a Trunk and this slick was 'Pasted Over' the offending BUTCHER Cover to hide the offending Picture, this is now referred to as a 2nd State . The Album was then re-circulated to record stores for general release!

Turning to the condition of this HISTORIC Album. The all important sleeve is in SUPER near mint condition - the sleeve is incredibly BRIGHT, CLEAN and FIRM. There is NO tearing and NO handwriting to any part of the sleeve, just GORGEOUS - CLEAN, FIRM and CRISP, showing a little minor discolouration to the gate edge and light record indentation to the reverse of the sleeve, but this is really minimal and does not detract from the overall PRESERVED condition of the sleeve. All the Edges and the Gate Edge are all CRISP and FIRM, with NO Splitting, NO tearing. The Spine too is CRISP and FIRM with the spine wording totally and clearly readable! Incredibly, the sleeve is still protected in its ORIGINAL Shrink Wrap which has been opened very carefully only at the gate edge to enable the record to be taken out. The Shrink Wrap still retains its original price sticker which is adhered to the top right hand corner on the front of the shrink wrap - AMAZING!

This Rare album comes complete with its Original Capitol Rainbow Label Mono Vinyl LP, which is in very good plus condition, and is housed in its original Orange Capitol Advertising Inner Bag.
