"Yesterday and Today"

3rd State Butcher Cover

THIS IS AN AUTHENTIC ORIGINAL...NOT A COPY !!

Capitol T 2553 Mono (1966)

Album was released with what was, at the time, considered an illustration in poor taste. There was public clamor and Capitol had an instant recall. These LPs are referred to as 1st State. Upon recall, Capitol did a paste-over with the illustration we are familiar with today. This paste-over is referred to as 2nd State. Many owners of the 2nd State LP were overcome with curiosity and decided to chance a removal of the paste-over. They met with varying degrees of success, although most could not completely and properly remove the glue. This is the 3rd State Butcher Cover. It is more common than 1st and 2nd State but is, nevertheless, considered RARE and desirable by collectors. This LP was pressed at the Los Angeles plant and on the back cover, lower right side, is 6 RIAA, which is the Capitol location code where this album originated.

Cover: Hard to grade this one. No seam splits. Some record ring smudge on back cover. Former owners name printed neatly, in ink, at top left of cover back. Front displays the original illustration but evidences the usual glue residue failure.

I have seen this cover sell for several thousand dollars.

Record: E+

ALL RECORDS ARE VISUALLY GRADED UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED. I WILL USUALLY ATTEMPT TO PLAY-GRADE THE HIGHER VALUED RECORDS, BUT IT IS JUST NOT POSSIBLE FOR ME TO LISTEN TO EVERY RECORD I LIST. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT RECORDS OF THE SAME VISUAL GRADE MAY NOT SOUND THE SAME. SOME LABELS JUST SOUND BETTER THAN OTHERS.

I use the following grades: M - NM - E -VG  - G

Mint (M) = Apparently un-played and showing no signs of wear.

Excellent (E) = Showing only slight wear and much of the original shine remains. There may be some surface scuffs.

Very Good (VG) = Grooves may be somewhat discolored and/or evidence use. There may be surface scratches. Label may begin to show use. Still a clean and very acceptable copy.

Good (G) = There will be surface scratches and sometimes deeper scratches. However, these records will play through, without skips, and provide very acceptable play. There will possibly be some background scratch or hiss noises.

This record is from my private 40+ year collection of movie and music. All items have been stored in a smoke-free home.

INTERNATIONAL BUYERS:  IF YOU USE PAYPAL, PLEASE HAVE YOUR ADDRESS CONFIRMED THROUGH PAYPAL. I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE PAYPAL PAYMENTS WITHOUT A CONFIRMED ADDRESS. UNCONFIRMED ADDRESS PAYMENTS MAY BE REFUNDED AND CONSIDERED NON-PAYMENT.

Winning U.S. bidder pays $10.00 Priority Mail Insured shipping. Ebay now prohibits posting more than $4.00 for shipping LPs, but to protect this collectible properly, it needs to be shipped properly. If you win more than 1 item, wherever  practicable, I will combine to save you on shipping cost. Payment is expected within 5 days after auction ends.
