OH WOW! - In **SUPER** condition, and EXTREMELY RARE, we are very pleased to offer collectors a UNIQUE opportunity to purchase this ORIGINAL 1966 USA Capitol **2nd State STEREO PASTE OVER BUTCHER COVER** LP for The Beatles Controversial 'Yesterday and Today' LP.

Collectors will appreciate not only is this album extremely hard to find, STEREO versions seldom become available as, not only were they issued in much lesser quantities than the Mono versions, many have since been Peeled to reveal the Butcher Cover, thus making them even more SCARCE than they were!

This SUPER RARE 'Paste Over' conceals the controversial BUTCHER Cover beneath the Pasted Over Trunk Slick, and on close inspection **you can clearly see the 'V' of Ringo's Turtleneck Sweater through the Pasted Over Slick!** Collectors will be aware that Capitol Records withdrew the Butcher Cover almost immediately after it was issued, as it was thought to be unsuitable (too gruesome!) for general release due to the Controversial nature of the BUTCHER sleeve, which shows The Beatles in White Jackets holding dismembered dolls and pieces of raw animal flesh. Instead of destroying the offending sleeve, Capitol decided to 'Paste Over' a more suitable sleeve, referred to as the 'Pasted Over Trunk Cover' showing The Beatles more suitably dressed posing around a Trunk and this slick was 'Pasted Over' the BUTCHER Cover to hide the offending Picture. The Album was then re-circulated to record stores for general release!

Also included in this very SPECIAL Package is an Original Capitol 'Yesterday and Today' STEREO Vinyl LP which is housed in its original Capitol Advertising Inner Bag, PLUS a copy of the Original Capitol Records Recall letter issued by Capitol Records at the time to recall the offending 1st State.

Now turning to the condition of this HISTORIC Album. The all important sleeve is in SUPER CLEAN and very IMPRESSIVE excellent condition - the sleeve is incredibly BRIGHT, FIRM and CLEAN. There is NO tearing and NO handwriting to the sleeve, and the front Pasted Over Trunk Cover is really GORGEOUS - CLEAN and FIRM with NO Staining and NO Record Indentation, just a very small and mild crease to the top and bottom corners of the sleeve, but this really is mild, and does not detract from the overall condition of the sleeve. Quite unusually, there is NO Splitting or tearing to the edges, and the Spine too is in very nice shape with the spine wording clearly legible! The reverse of the sleeve too is in great shape with no handwriting or tearing, just a little age discolouration. The back of the sleeve confirms this to be a Scranton, Pennsylvania pressing with the official number '2' printed in the lower right hand corner of the reverse of the sleeve. Comes complete with its Original STEREO Vinyl LP Record on the Capitol Rainbow Record label which is in excellent condition.
