AUCTION SPECIFICS AND CONDITION:  

 THE COVER: 

Rare Scranton Pennsylvania #2 Purple Stereo Butcher Cover

The colors on this butcher are vibrant and bold.   This is referred to as a purple butcher because of the very bright and colorful purple graphics of the Scranton stereo banner at the top of the butcher graphics. The butcher scene itself also has a purplish cast to it. These SCRANTON COVERS are more rare than the dark gray bannered LA and Jacksonville stereo butchers. 

As with virtually all of our butchers, the pictures below allow you to see the incredible fine dot matrix texture of the original butcher slick that has been exposed.  This only happens with a properly peeled butcher and this butcher has those. There has not been any touch up on this cover. 

The spine in realtively great shape with some yellowing from age -  all of the print is solid and legible.The seams are in averagae physical shape.  There are some bumps and chips along the bottom edge. The top seam has about an 1 1/2 inch paper loss right in the center.  There really isn't any split, its just that the paper has aged and flaked off.   Once again, the printing on the spine is clean, clear, and very legible. The corners are square with light balding of the lower right tip. 

The printing on the back is all there.  As you can see, there is a fair amount of foxing on the back.  This is caused from age and acid migration due to contact with other sources of paper such as record covers, yes - shrinkwrap, or cardboard.

 Please be aware that every butcher is like a diamond - rarely are two ever remotely alike in all the investment features they offer.   RARELY have we ever had a perfect butcher.  Each cover has its strengths and weaknesses.  I strive to keep the latter at a minimum.  Stereo butchers in any condition are rare, and this is a very respectable example.

 The peel on this butcher was done by Jim Hansen at Blue Jay Way Galleries - who is recognized as world's leading butcher artist.  Jim is our exclusive butcher artist, and all of our butchers are done in beautiful detail by him!   He has been peeling butchers since 1971, and has made butcher restoration a true form of art!

THE LP IS A FULL GLOSS VG+ ON THE VINYL WITH NM- RAINBOW LABELS.  LP IS NOT NM, BUT IS A GOOD BIT ABOVE AVERAGE FOR THIS TITLE. THESE LP'S ARE ABOUT AS DIFFICULT TO FIND NM AS THE BUTCHER COVER ITSELF.  THIS IS A NICE ONE INDEED.  LP HAS BEEN CLEANED ON A VPI RECORD CLEANER .  ALSO INCLUDED IS AN  ORIGINAL SCRANTON GREEN CAPITOL 66 INNER SLEEVE MAKING THIS A COMPLETE 1966 CAPITOL RECORDS YESTERDAY AND TODAY BUTCHER PACKAGE.
