Beatles Yesterday and Today
"BUTCHER" album cover, Third State
First issue "Yesterday and Today" on Capitol
Rare "New Improved Full Dimensional Stereo" version ST2553

"Third state" means that this was a release of the album after the original "first state" butcher cover was recalled and had another cover pasted over it before being released again. Then someone peeled the second cover off to reveal the butcher cover underneath, making it "third state."

I purchased this record from its original owner (and peeler, no doubt). This is the less common stereo release. The album cover is solid with only minor wear and no splits. It has one spot of damage on the edge. The cover is a little warped from the steaming process, but this is minor. The back side has a little light soiling but hardly any wear. It shows the nine previous Beatles albums with all text and images clear. Refer to the photo for condition of the peeling. There is some residual glue in the center, and the paper was torn off in some large areas on the left-hand side and through the album title. Please let us know if you can't see the photos below.

Includes the original orange "Capitol '66 SOUNDS Great!" sleeve in very good condition with a two-inch split at bottom.

The record has a VG+ surface. I cleaned and play-tested the album and heard very little noise of any kind. The music is clear, static is minor, and if there were any clicks, I did not hear them over the music. Side 1 has one long shallow scratch and three other shallow scratches. Side 2 has three shallow scratches. There are a few minor surface stains (cosmetic only) that did not come off with cleaning but might with additional effort. Stereo, colorband label.
