Description
Perhaps the best presented Beatles unofficial releases of all time. The content was history making in that it was upon hearing this audition that Decca ultimately rejected the group. The singles themselves were presented in coloured vinyl with excellent label design and housed in full colour tab cut sleeves - all professionally done. These releases were a far cry from the usual "blank" label, poorly mastered and pressed bootlegs of the time (1976) and set a new standard for unofficial releases.
It is believed that the Deccagone singles originated with Joe Pope, Beatle collector and publisher of the Strawberry Fields Forever fanzine. In 1977 he purchased the Beatles Decca audition tape, had it professionally mastered, and subsequently pressed the Deccagone singles. The quality of the original Deccagones is generally far superior to later bootleg copies.
