Description
Beatles, Revolver, 1st US Press Mono, Capitol T 2576, (Gray back cover edition) Dead Wax: Matrix numbers are T1-25756-F1, T2-2576-G4#2. (In the '60s Capitol used either "F" or "G" to indicate a 1st pressing. "I Am" triangle, indicative of the Scranton plant. Labels: No "Subsidiary of..." Label credits read "Lennon-McCartney"; on later pressings changed to "John Lennon-Paul McCartney."
Vinyl: Near Mint ... There is a three-second segment with three tiny clicks. Otherwise, it played flawlessly. On a couple of his vocals, Paul's voice has an unencumbered sound quality that creates an amazing sense of presence (or so it seemed to me). A truly excellent copy.
Covers: Very Good... The front graphic is a bit faded with a slight amount of embedded dirt but no ring-wear. The back cover (including the "fold-over" on the front which includes the print ("File Under: The Beatles," etc.) and the half-circle are, for what it's worth, not black (or faded black) but a medium gray. I assume this is the effect of running out of ink, either because someone was asleep at the switch or because they were in an inordinate hurry to get these jackets printed. I have no idea whether such covers are rare or if anyone even cares about it. The back cover has ring-wear and quite a bit of spotting. There is some fraying around the edges but no seam splits.
Inner Sleeve: Very Good... Original "Capitol '66" inner sleeve in decent shape.
Packaging includes original inner sleeve, new audiophile inner sleeve, new outer sleeve, cardboard padding, bubble-wrap and a thick cardboard record box.
