The Beatles – Rubber Soul 1965 –UK 1st issue on the yellow & black Parlophone labels. PMC 1267 dating to the original release date of 3rd December 1965. Comes in its original 1st issue Garrod & Lofthouse patents pending sleeve.
20th century collectables is pleased to offer for sale this MINT audiophile copy of the Beatles classic Rubber Soul.
As John Lennon once said ‘Rubber Soul is when it started to get interesting’. A great album with tracks such as ‘Norwegian Wood’, ‘Michelle’, ‘Girl’, ‘in My Life’ and many more. The analogue sound on this copy is breathtaking.
The workload of the Beatles in 1965 was enormous. After finishing their 2nd American tour at the end of August 1965 they returned home and under pressure from EMI were impelled to write, record and produce an album in time for the Christmas market. It’s an indication of their genius; for what they came up with inside of those few weeks was the masterpiece – Rubber Soul. Recording finished in November of 1965 and discs were cut on 17th, 19th and 23rd of that month and rushed to the EMI pressing plant in Hayes where production immediately started. The finished article was delivered into the shops on the 3rd December 1965. These -4 matrix pressings formed part of the original pressing run.

Audio: MINT
One of the finest copies I have ever heard. The disc is audio perfection and plays with the quietness of a CD but with full analogue sound. There is no groovewear or distortion to any of the music signals and all gaps are silent. The delicate and beautiful tracks of ‘Girl’ and ‘In My Life’ have all the qualities of the original recording. A true audiophile copy which will not disappoint. Needless to say the record does not jump or stick.
Visual: Side 1 EXCELLENT + Side 2 EXCELLENT
The disc appears mint in strong daylight. Side one has no marks other than faint whispy sleeve removal marks only visible under halogen lighting. Side two on close inspection reveals two faint non-sounding surface marks which are just visible in daylight if the record is angled; on further inspection under halogen lighting nothing more is revealed other than ultra faint whispy sleeve removal marks. The disc lies 100% flat on the turntable.
Labels: EXCELLENT +
There are some spindle trails to each label however all text is completely unworn and there is no writing to either label.
Cover
EXCELLENT +
A beautifully preserved 1st issue Garrod & Lofthouse patents pending cover. The front laminate is completely unworn and is free from any thumbnail creasing and still retains it shop freshness. The rear panel is equally impressive with no writing or marks. The only ‘flaw’ which prevents a nr mint grading is some minor damage/creasing along the bottom left flipback towards the opening edge. The spine is in perfect undamaged condition. A stunning cover.
Inner-sleeve Excellent+
Clean & correct ‘PATENTS APPLIED FOR’ and ‘MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN’ inner sleeve. There is a touch of light handling creasing. There are no seam splits or tears.
