The Beatles – Rubber Soul 1965 –UK 1st issue on the yellow & black Parlophone labels. PMC 1267 dating to the original release date of 3rd December 1965. Comes in its original 1st issue Garrod & Lofthouse patents pending sleeve.

20th century collectables is pleased to offer for sale this stunning investment grade MINT- copy of the Beatles classic Rubber Soul.

This copy has received only 5 or 6 plays in its 49 year history, a remarkably low number for a Beatles UK 1st issue.

As John Lennon once said ‘Rubber Soul is when it started to get interesting’. A great album with tracks such as ‘Norwegian Wood’, ‘Michelle’, ‘Girl’, ‘in My Life’ and many more. The analogue sound on this copy is breathtaking.

The workload of the Beatles in 1965 was enormous. After finishing their 2nd American tour at the end of August 1965 they returned home and under pressure from EMI were compelled to write, record and produce an album in time for the Christmas market.

It’s an indication of their genius; for what they came up with inside those few weeks was the masterpiece – Rubber Soul. Recording finished in November of 1965 and discs were cut on 17th, 19th and 23rd of that month and rushed to the EMI pressing plant in Hayes where production immediately started. The finished article was delivered into the shops on the 3rd December 1965. These -4 matrix pressings formed part of the original 1965 pressing run.

Incredibly rare in this condition. Vinyl of this quality is rarely turning up for auction.

CONDITION

Disc

Visual: MINT-

The vinyl is shop fresh and still retains its original factory rainbow sheen. This disc appears MINT in strong daylight and is completely unmarked. Even under intense halogen lighting the disc appears virtually MINT with only one or two of the faintest of sleeve removal marks becoming visible. The vinyl is essentially a whisker away from an all out MINT grading normally associated with unplayed vinyl. The disc lies 100% flat on the turntable. An absolute stunner.

Labels: MINT-

A rare set of labels with sans serif text to side 1 and serif text to side two. Both labels have only the faintest of evidence that the record has been played. Side 1 carries the KT tax code.

Audio: MINT

Due to the stunning visual appearance of the disc it was no surprise that the audio is perfect and flawless throughout, with absolutely no groovewear or distortion to any of the music signals. All tracks are flawless including the easily damaged tracks, ‘Girl’, ‘Nowhere Man’ and ‘Michelle’. Run-ins and gaps are silent. The analogue sound shines through on this exceptional pressing. By the time you have listened to this vinyl you are left in no doubt that ‘Rubber Soul’ is indeed one of The Beatles greatest recordings. This is vinyl at its best, displaying the analogue richness and delicacy of the music. A true audiophile copy which will not disappoint. Needless to say the record does not jump or stick.

Cover

MINT-

The sleeve is in remarkable condition and is simply one of the finest 1st issue covers I have seen.  This beautifully preserved 1965 Garrod & Lofthouse patents pending cover looks like it left the shop earlier today. The front panel is pristine and virtually flawless, still retaining its high gloss laminate. The back panel is exceptionally clean and fresh with no writing. All flipbacks are in perfect condition as is the spine. With the exception of only one or two tiny imperfections this sleeve is the closest I have seen to an all out mint grading.

Inner-sleeve MINT-

Original 1965 rice paper inner
