THE BEATLES - SGT PEPPERS LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND
This 1st UK MONO pressing dates from the initial release date of June 1967 on the black yellow Parlophone label with 'Sold in UK..' text, KT tax code and with DUPLICATE labels.
This ultra rare factory mis-press copy comes with early mono stampers and was almost certainly pressed ahead of the June 1st 1967 release date on or around May 1967.
The quality control at EMI Hayes in Middlesex was second to none, any faults or incorrectly pressed records were quickly spotted and destroyed; hardly any copies therefore got out of the factory and reached the public. This record with its duplicate labels did manage to escape the attentions of quality control. The first and only copy I have ever seen of Sgt Pepper with duplicate labels. A true rarity.
However what makes the record so collectable is the absolute stunning condition it is in.

Visual: EXCELLENT+
A beautifully preserved copy which looks stunning in strong daylight. Incredibly tough to find an early mono pressing in such wonderful condition. Under a bright halogen desk light there are some whispy sleeve removal marks and one or two very faint micro marks which disappear when the record is tilted but nothing that effects play or is in any way feelable. The heavy duty vinyl lies 100% flat on the turntable. A strong Excellent+ example approaching nr mint condition.
Labels: MINT-
Possibly a totally unique pressing featuring duplicate labels. The side two label appears on both side one and side two. Very difficult to see any signs of spindle trails, consistant with the record having been played a minimum amount of times. There is no writing to either label. The KT tax code is visible on the second side.
Audio: EXCELLENT+
There is no groovwear or distortion to any of the music signals. It still retains its original clarity and dynamism. The deep and rich base sound, which characterises this brilliant mono version is completely unworn. I did detect some occasional surface noise and the occasional light tick but overall it is a superb listening experience.
Cover
EXCELLENT
An original 1st issue patents pending Garrod & Lofthouse cover. Solid and well preserved with moderate signs of wear. The front panel has some light thumbnails the back cover has signs of record impression. The gatefold is pristine. Spine is undamaged.
Inner-sleeve Excellent-
Original psychedelic inner.
Cut-out Excellent
Original cut out with minor wear.
